Does anyone have any recommendations for a good shop that works on Toyotas in the NOVA area? I’m coming due for the timing belt again and don’t really have the time to tackle this myself. I found an AISIN kit online for less than $200.00 but will probably have the shop also do the crank seal...
I went with Goodyear brakes and rotors from buybrakes online. They were cheap and had good reviews. So far I'm pretty impressed. We'll see how long they last since this truck likes to make the front brakes do all the work no matter how much i tinker with the rears...
At 160000+ miles I would highly recommend doing the upper and lower ball joints before such a trip. If you're mechanically inclined you can do it yourself and it won't break the bank. I would figure out what tools are required and also take the tools with you. Taking spare lowers might be...
Mine has the larger calipers that they went to in mid-2002. I don't tow anything anymore and I'm actually planning to sell this rig this year. But i don't want to sell it knowing it needs brakes. The last time i changed the rotors and pads together it did great for several years.
Thanks for...
Good afternoon all, I‘m getting some front brake vibration and it’s time to do the front brakes again. With a twenty-year-old rig that I’m about to put on the market, I don’t want to put a huge investment in, but I want a decent solution. I’ve narrowed it down to a Powerstop rotor and pad kit...
You got two inches from that setup? That's interesting. I ordered the 6112s with the 650 pound springs on 6/4. With my "03 Access Cab I'm supposed to get an inch exactly. I'm fine with that, especially since it's supposed to be an inch over the original stock height. It'll actually be more...
I went with the X2 from Batteries Plus. It's spendy but has a five year replacement warranty and really good reviews. The old Die Hard platinum made it 9 years almost exactly, but I don't think the new Die Hard platinums are made by the same company.
That's good information, thank you. Do you remember what setting you used when you installed them and about how much lift you ended up with? At the #6/#4 setting, it's supposed to yield about 1" of lift on the Access Cabs. I'm fine with 1". I just wonder what the real world experiences are.
Does anyone have any experience with Bilstein 6112s with the Bilstein springs on a Gen 1 Tundra? I was going to go with 5100s and re-use the old springs, but I like the idea of having new springs too. Plus it will be much easier to install them if they’re already assembled…. I know I can only...
Well, the alternator passed the Oreilly’s computer check. The battery diagnostic was “good battery, last quarter of life.” The battery I have in there now is a Diehard Platinum Group 35 I installed in January 2013. Clearly it’s been a good battery but I believe they were made by Odyssey back...
Sorry to exhume this. But does anyone have any experience with the new Diehard Platinums? If not, how about Duralast Platinums? My battery light came on yesterday. It’s off now, but it’s only a matter of time now, I think. BTW, I have eight years and nine months on my current battery…
Thanks for the replies everyone. I think will go with 5100s all around. Now I just have to decide if I want to tackle the install myself. I already have the hardware soaking in PB Blaster...
Ford's F-150 with the 2.7 has been crushing it. Great mileage and power. I'm waiting for the Toyota answer. Until then, I'll keep running my old 4.7 Tundra. But I'm with you on this build. I need something that is great for driving from one side of the country to the other with decent...
