I wonder if the condensation is enough of a problem for you to consider this: Aerogel blanket type insulation, its completely hydrophobic and could help reduce alot of the thermal bridging around the rim. Typically it comes in 5 or 10MM rolls. We use it in our Oil&Gas plant to insulate our...
Haha yes I heard about some sort of police event in smith when I was there.
The owner of the x10 reported the most frost in the shower area, around the Seitz window frames, as well as in some of the corners that are covered with cabinetry. I don't fault OEV as the camper was a prototype, the...
As always @charlieaarons brings one back to reality. The energy density of fossil fuels can't be beat!
@Trail Talk I've followed your northern trips closely! You know my situation perfectly (We actually happened to be in Fort Smith at the same time years ago, I snapped a picture of your truck...
Weighing the pros/cons of hydronic heating vs going all electric. There are certainly some great perks to the system. If you have experience with these types of systems I'd appreciate your feedback.
Background info: My camper will be spending winters in Northern Alberta so reliable heating is...
Yeah the FTR sure is cool!
But double the price of the N-Series. Big bonus of the the N-Series diesel you can get service basically everywhere in the world. The cummins in the FTR has pretty good service network but no where close to 4HK1 in the N-Series.
Thanks for the info Gator cleared up...
@gator70 can you share the specifics on the 4wd conversion? For those of us looking to convert Isuzu chassis there's a lack of choice. So any info you can share is super valuable

Ram is launching there newly updated Ram HD trucks with new engine variation and brand new 8spd transmission. My dealer stated expect a 13k increase. Given the trade war I'm not surprised to hear 20k
Your budget for an F550 build is wildly low. Even importing the panels yourself and doing all the labor. You're looking at minimum $200k CAD:
Currently you can buy an 169" wheelbase F550 from a dealer in Alberta for $87k + tax, Super single conversion(buckstop) $36k, panels produced in Kelowna...
How are these trucks on the freeway @gator70 and @elvan ? Considering a ridgerock conversion on an NRR, but I do a TON of highway driving. After conversion is it a feasible highway cruiser? Not screaming at you with high rpms at 70-75mph?
I think most members of this forum are from North America. MAN are rare as hens teeth here.
But trust me, if i could buy a MAN i would.
Are your european? If North American, please share your sourcing/ import details!
Some folks like winter, and want to enjoy Alaska in the winter. Those heating pads won't keep up with 24hrs of -20 degrees. I agree though, that having the tanks inside is pretty significant design commitment.
About expedition vehicle platforms.
Opinions?
Cab over versus pickup truck layout with engine in front of driver.
only pros to American trucks is power/speed
Next
Longer wheelbase versus large overhang behind the rear axle.
Both limit trail performance, keep as short as possible (COE wins...
If you can source one, the Mercedes Atego ex mil spec is an amazing little truck. 3 diff locks, NO DEF, enough power and payload to put a very nicely outfitted camper box.
There's a reason Bliss Mobil buys them all for their rental fleet. I've been trying to source one for years, when they come...
