    Securing Tool Box / Cargo

Guys, I need to secure an aluminum tool box in the back of my Tracker [ rear seat removed ] ......so in the event of a roll over or an accident, I don't wear it in the back of the head. It's pretty large.....30" x 16" x 12" and it will be packed with tools and recovery gear, so it will be...

    New guy with a Samurai

235 75 15 There IS NO perfect tire size for the anemic stock Samurai. It's all about making compromises, what you just gotta have vs what you will no longer have. This question has been asked by about every *new* samurai owner over the last 30 years...........google it and you will receive...

    Distributing the weight........a weighty matter

Good points Korben. Do you think that these mentioned ponts are still valid, considering I have a vw TD engine in the TT. It weighs roughly 300 lb dry, heavier for sure than the stock 1.3, but I'm not sure tho, by how much. Root Moose.......interesting name. Sounds like you had your zuk...

    Distributing the weight........a weighty matter

Thank you for your thoughts guys. In an ideal world, I wouldn't have to carry any of that stuff when out on the trail, and the diminutive zuk would handle like a breeze. However, the reality of it is, when you need it, you need it, and thus my build with this weighty stuff continues. I'm not...

    Distributing the weight........a weighty matter

With all of the "junk" we add onto our vehicles........winches, hi lift, large spare, heavy bumpers and carriers, fuel cans, cargo racks, shovel, axe, etc, what are we doing if anything to distribute weight between the axles appropriately. I don't even know what the correct weight distribution...

    87 Suzuki Samurai

I think guys that put a 1.6 into a zuk have trouble with the oil pan hitting "something"......not sure what. One option is to put a 1.3 oil pan on a 1.6 block. Not sure what mods if any need to be done to accomplish that.

    Heavy tool box sliding rails.

Yes, that is another option. My Samurai is a tin top, it is not open like the zuk in the pic. It will be on 33" tires with a SPOA lift. Climbing in / out of the back of it will be a challenge due to the height of the deck and having to enter it hunched over or on my knees. Further, I will have...

    Jerry cans, which to choose?

Yep. My plan exactly. Prolly couldn't get them shipped to me on the island from Vancouver for the price diff between P.A. and DS Tactical.

    Heavy tool box sliding rails.

Great idea, thank you. Just the kind of idea I was needing! I hadn't thot of that.

    Heavy tool box sliding rails.

The tool box doesn't *have to be* on sliders, but if it were, it would make it much more convenient for accessing the heavy lewis winch and chainsaw inside, without me having to crawl in the back of the "tight" samurai back end. The ergonomics will be poor for lifting heavy stuff while hunched...

    Jerry cans, which to choose?

Thanks for the replies. Yes, our dollar sucks @ss compared to the American dollar right now, and just about everything that is imported into Canada is based on US currency. So, if we want it, we bend over and take it. I was looking at a Miller 252 mig welder at a local tool shop the other day...

    Jerry cans, which to choose?

I'm making a rear bumper with swing away tire carrier for the Zuk tin top. I would like to add a jerry can to the bumper swing, but will make it so it can easily be re & re as desired. Thinking of this jerry can...

I'll take a bunch of pics when it's done and post either here or on another zuk site with a link......

    Heavy tool box sliding rails.

Thanks for your thoughts. Being a DIY'er, I'm looking for ideas and maybe some pics at this point. I prefer to make stuff myself. I've seen some of the pick up sliding rail systems sold online......they look solid , but are however, very spendy.
