I would wait for a 4.7 v8. There have been reports of issues with the push button transfer case, but if you plan to swap it that would be solved. The v8 they put in the first gens are incredibly reliable, and while it's not the same as a land cruisers, it will probably have no problem going...

I would highly recommend looking at power stroke help on YouTube. Informative, and basically if you get an 05 or newer 6.0 it can be a great engine. The 6.4 had some problems, and isn't built as well. I would say go 6.0 and spend the money to bullet proof it

Yes, but they have heavily modified vehicles, there is no way that land cruiser is on the stock suspension with the arb on the front. I have read chains on the front of any toyota ifs is not a good idea, I might just get rear only

I looked on mud and couldn't find anything for stock suspension. I agree it's been great before in snow and I want the chains just for piece of mind. I was thinking only get one pair, for the rear, and avoid all fit issues.

I have read that there is not enough clearance for chains on the front. Does anyone have experience with this? I have snow tires so I'm not incredibly worried but it still would be nice to have a set of chains in the car. Any particular brand/style people like?

This will be biased as I own a 100 series, and posting this in the land rover forum would probably lead to people telling you to go lr3. There is a reason 100 series hold their value more, they are incredibly heavy duty and reliable. I can't count how many 100 series I have seen on mud with...

I had a 2002 tundra for about 40,000 miles and with careful driving and street tires got about 20, and on road trips would hit 25 on the freeway. All about how you drive it. Agreed on the land cruiser, my 100 series rarely improves much over the eps rating Should state this is with no ethanol...

For me the reliability of the tacoma along with the fact you can take the camper out and run down to Home Depot for a project, and the size of the aftermarket would win it over. Cargo van might have more room but to get a 7.3 you are looking at 2003 at the newest, and it's not going to ride...

Where are people putting these in a 100 series? Not too much room, I was going to instal one in the center console on the side, has anyone done this? What all do I need? Can I wire it strait to the battery?

Traction control but not atrac. It's just a lower form for the street, it's not vsc either, and also the anti lock brakes are still active at all times if you do the pin 7 mod. 2000+ got vsc and atrac and lost the locker

That makes sense, mine is a 99, I wish it came from the factory without the auto cdl because the pin 7 mod keeps traction control on normal mode instead of low range mode

Mine does, yes, you might have a burnt out bulb maybe, but that seems odd as it's not used nearly as much as others. It's possible the pin 7 mod was done to your truck
