RAM Mounts for GPS

They work great. I have one for my GPS, my Spot, my iphone and my camera. They are about as simple and heavy duty as they come. I prefer mounting everything with the 1" balls so they are all interchangeable. Also, all of my mounts are bolted down, I can't speak for any of the suction cup stuff.

I use a suction cup mount in my tacoma for a garmin gps and I can't be happier. I was hesitant at first because suction cups have always sucked in my experience, but went for it after seeing good reviews.

The suction mech. is great and i would totally put something even much heavier on there and not worry about it. I don't think I've ever had it fall off even when bumping/tugging on it fairly hard to get the gps out.

The only time it comes off is when i'm cleaning the inside of the truck

Excellent product. The only problem I've ever heard of (it happenws to me and others) was the plastic holder for the Garmin 60Csx would drop the unit if you rode a bicycle on rough roads.

That reminds me, I need to buy a holder for my cell phone.

thats interesting i've got a 60csx also and the holder is so freaking tight i actually took a dremel to it to remove slight bit of the "lip" to make it easier to get in and out (it was marring the bottom rubber on the gps).

they must have a different holder on the bike mount - there is no way it would ever fall out of the one i've got. 2 hands could barely get it out at first

I use both the suction cup and bolted 1" ball mounts. They're not pretty or elegant, but they're bombproof.

Out standing feedback. I'm sold! I use the supplied garmin mount for my 60csx, but just got a nuvi 780 off Amazon and looking for a better mount than what garmin supplies. Also probably going to go w/ an iPod mount as well while I'm at it.

I'm running the laptop mount for an 08' F-250 in my work truck and it is great. I plan on getting the water box and mount for my Nuvi if/when I buy a boat in the near future.

I've been using RAM mounts since I got my first GPS in 1999. Currently still using a suction cup (the "locking" type) but want to go to something a bit more secure - maybe find a way to bolt the 1" ball to the dashboard?

Otherwise I like the RAM stuff. I also have a RAM ball on my motorcycle handlebar so I can easily switch my GPS to the bike.

GPS is an older Magellan Meridian handheld unit.

i used the suction cup mount in my XJ with the cradle for my Garmin Etrex at first and then later the cradle for my Garmin 60csx for a couple years - the heat from the phoenix sun caused the suction cup to deform permanently and loose suction after about a year... after buying my second suction cup attachment i changed to a screw in dash mount.

now i am just starting a carputer project in my WJ and using the 1.5" ball system with a VESA 75mm mount for the screen, it's very solid even off-road.

RAM mounts doesn't care what you are mounting it to, a 60 mount is a 60 mount. That's part of the beauty of the system.

Having said that, RAM must have improved it over the last couple of years. One thing about bicycles is the lack of suspension really hammers that GPS on very, very rough roads. I never thought the 60 had enough mass to force its way out of the mount, in spite of other peoples' experiences. That was, right up until it happened to us. :) The Garmin is a tough unit and it was fine.
