What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

Got tired of the Check Guages light coming on. Volt meter would start out around 13v and after a few minutes would drop to zero. Swapped in a new Alternator and serviced the battery connections. Volt meter now stays at a solid 14v which hasn't happened for at least 6 months.

    CopperCon Build

We are using the CVT Shasta and love it. One of the things that led us to it was the Overhang/Annex room that keeps the ladder out of the weather. We live in Western Oregon and it doesn't get much wetter than here. The cloth tent would be a bad idea if you don't have a facility large enough...

What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

Swapped out the Dana 35 open diff with a Dana 44. I had previously built the 44 with a Trutrac and a set of 4.88 gears. Installed an adjustable Trac Bar. Installed a full set of Bilsteins. Tore the front axle apart and cleaned it up and prepped it for a rebuild. The front is also getting a...

What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

Cut all the mounts/brackets off my donor Dana 44 rear axle. Discovered the Mad TJ Bracket kit that I bought a few years ago is for a much larger diameter axle tube than a 44. Made the discovery that my Jeep is serving double duty as a winter home for a Chipmunk. Found that out after I pulled...

Of Dust and Sunstones - a SE Oregon adventure

Good report. Glad we didn't follow you down Fandango. The Jeep would not have been happy with the current gearing. We also returned home a dusty mess. Oddly enough my left trailer brake is grabby now. We ended up in heavy wash board roads and thick forest fire smoke. Complete with...

    Coupler Hitch?

I went down the Ujoint/Yoke route for an Offroad Hitch. After a bunch of playing around I eventually gave up on the idea. Strength is not an issue as the forces they encounter in driveline service far exceed anything you could duplicate as a Hitch. The major issue is getting enough...

What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

My front wheels started flopping around a while back and have been getting progressively worse. Last time out behind the house the right one started making horrible sounds. So I picked up a set of new Hub Assembly's and this morning tackled the project. Other than some issues with Rust things...

I want to switch out my trailer's 5 lug hubs to toyota 6 lug. Need some schooling.

Super easy. Google "E-Trailer". They have great prices, quick shipping and will have the correct bolt pattern for you. If you have any plans to add brakes to your trailer now would be the time. Hubs are available with integral brake drums. A set of those along with a set of complete backing...

Post favorite pics of your rig and trailer

Thanks, We have been enjoying it and looking forward to having more time to play with it. Due to an overloaded schedule I have not done a build thread but I did take some pictures along the way. You are welcome to check them out here...

I built the Canoe Rack myself. The front support bolts to my winch mount with four bolts. It is easily removable and very stable. The rear portion is bolted to my trail rack which is connected to my swing away tire carrier. Both halves are padded with pipe insulation and have chain links...
