    New Defender News

This is totally wrong towing capacity is lowered by a decrease in available tongue weight load. So a reduction in 2000 lbs towing relates to a 200 lb reduction in load capacity for the Defender. So batteries add roughly 200 lbs not 2000.

    New Defender News

I’ve owned my new f-150 for 3 weeks and had to “reboot” the infotainment system probably 5 times already. Once I couldn’t even turn the radio off without shutting down the truck. Did it throw a fault? No, but it sure doesn’t work properly all the time. All manufacturers pretty much have these...

    New Defender News

Not a proper comparison! The Defender doesn’t have the optional rear locker or better traction management system that is available. If you can afford the G-Wagon then you can afford to get the Defender properly optioned and pocket $50K.

    New Defender Rage/Hate Thread

I’ve wheeled my LR3 with 18’s and 31 in tires never once did I bottom out. Hells revenge Kane Creek. Not doing much more than that because I have to drive it home. I wouldn’t do much more in any vehicle I have to drive back home. But I understand you need lots of clearance in Moab. You might...

LR3 upgrades options what to do

My LR3 has 155k on it and my use case seems to be about like yours. For towing if you get a curt receiver hitch you can’t fit a full size tire do to the way it mounts to the frame. So forget about any increase in tire size if you go that route. Here is the receiver I built for my trailer. I...

    New Defender Rage/Hate Thread

How is this story the Jeep must be better than my LR3. Only modifications to to LR3 at the time of this trip, 285/60R18 Terra Grapplers and IID Tool for extra lift. Stock Jeep Wrangler Rubicon two door. Place, Poughkeepsie Gulch. Took my LR3 up very slow with my wife spotting me but cleared all...

    New Defender Rage/Hate Thread

You forgot to mention in this thread that there was at least one LR4 with your group. You posted pictures of it in the “post pictures of your Land Rover” thread. So your Hummer broke, which by the way is IFS and IRS, and the old defender broke. How’d the LR4 fair? Wait, it must have been fine...

    Lift rods vs GAP?

For what you plan on driving, I wouldn’t run anything over a 32” tire. I use a combination of rods and IID tool. I put the rods in then used the IID tool to lower it back down to the original ride height. What this does is gives me the proper road manners but when I go off road I can raise the...

NAS LR3 build with an overseas twist

If you hook the gap tool to the computer there is a setting to change the tire radius or diameter, I forget which one. I have never seen this setting on the dash screen just when attached to a pc.

Land Rover Discovery 5 (LR5?) in the wild

One has to remember that government mandates are driving much of the exterior styling and smaller engines. When they mandate that your entire line of cars must meet a certain average in fuel economy and you only make suvs the manufacturer is forced to squeeze every last bit of efficiency out of...

Winter tire question for Compomotive users on the LR4/Discovery 4

What did you doe with your original wheels? If you still have them then you can have a dedicated set of winter tires that takes 15 minutes to change out for the season. As far as traction in what you describe the skinnier the tire the better. As for studs that depends on the ratio of time the...

    2017 LR Discovery details

Looks like the rear locker is only available in the HSE lux and above as the "capability plus" package. But available though, no full size spare in that package either you have to option that separately.

    2012 LR4 Build Thread

I actually use rods and GAP together, just in the opposite direction. I put the rods in then recalibrated back down to run as close to the original normal ride height as possible. Then set up a memory slot on GAP for off-roading at the height that the rods would do normally without the...

Removing the factory running boards on an LR3

Get a IID tool from GAP Diagnostics. Lift when your on the trail standard heights all other times plus it does so much more in diagnosing faults.

    LR3 Tire Decision Time

My concern with chains would be the clearance between the sidewalk and the knuckle with the 265 width. I have 285/60s and there is less than a half inch clearance there so a 265 would put you somewhere around 3/4". Pretty tight for chains I would think.
