    Overheating/Gauge Puzzle

That's a pretty good find on raising front end of the truck to bleed the system. I think my vehicle has a similar problem, not as extreme as yours, but when going up a hill and parking afterwards I can hear boiling noise from the coolant system. Will give a method you described a try.

    Igor's 2002 Montero gen 3 build

295's were a bit of a challenge to make work, and took some cutting but nothing too bad. The only down side to those tires is it feels like there isn't enough power anymore even though I have re geared it. I am considering going back down to 265 75 16 tires since my Lexus will be a more...

    Igor's 2002 Montero gen 3 build

I will be keeping both of them for now unless someone makes me an offer that pays for what I have in it. As of right now, the Lexus is getting a better fuel economy. The tire size is pretty close on both cars, but Lexus gets about 15 to 16 mpg corrected for tire size, and Montero gets 13 to 15...

    1999 LX470 expedition/overland build!

Low mileage vehicles are nice, and yours looks great. My LX came from Idaho before ending up in California.

    1999 LX470 expedition/overland build!

That adjustment is only temporary until I install a new suspension set up. I have on order stage 3 icons, ome torsion bars and rear springs. Once everything comes in, AHC system will going away, but for now it gives me a bit more clearance. I am slowly accumulating all the parts for my build...

    Delica in California

Was your defender gas or diesel? From information that I gathered, is if its a gas vehicle older the 1974 no need for epa concerns, and on a diesel you don't need to worry about epa until 1997, but even for a diesel the vehicle has to be over 25 years old. I would be curious to have an answer as...

    1999 LX470 expedition/overland build!

Riviera, thank you. There is nothing wrong with having a snorkel, as it keeps so much dust out of the filter. My is already sitting at home ready to be put on! Your LX looks great.

    1999 LX470 expedition/overland build!

I finally did the height sensor adjustments, and gained just under 2 inches of lift, and my high and low modes still work. Took it to some trails yesterday, and I am really impressed with how it performed. One trail that we took, did not look like it was being used too often, and that was a good...

Land Cruiser 60 Anniversary Window Decals

Great idea on the decals, I just placed an order! Just wish I could buy more of the above glass separately for my work tool box and tinted glass.

    1999 LX470 expedition/overland build!

Thank you! The LX has been pretty fun so far to be working on, and I am pretty happy that there are areas in it that need some attention, this way I get to see how to work on it, and also what parts could be a concern in a future. In a few weeks, I will be rebuilding my front end suspension...

    Igor's 2002 Montero gen 3 build

Have not posted on here in a while, but the build is pretty much done, and I just picked up another project a Lexus LX470 which is essentially a 100 series land cruiser. I still have the montero and it did great on a few recent trips. Since last post I put about 2000 miles off road as well as...

    1999 LX470 expedition/overland build!

Withing a week of owning the LX470 tires were upgraded, thankfully 4wheel parts was having a sale and no sales tax when I needed tires. Ordered 5 BFG TA KO2 in 285 75 16 and mounted on the original wheels. Huge thanks to my friend that did the mounting and balancing for me. Was very surprised...

    1999 LX470 expedition/overland build!

I have been a member of this group for a few years and learned a lot. Over the last three years I was building my Gen3 Mitsubishi Montero in to a very capable adventure vehicle and it has taken me on some great trips. Montero is a great vehicle, but there are a few things that I learned along...

2016 Tacoma DCSB...a work in (slow) progress

Really like how the bumper looks, and the whole build is coming out great. Thank you for your inputs on fuel economy, it sounds like extremely good.

    2017 TACOMA $$$$$$$

Factory built off road packages are great for some people and pointless for others. I think it will be a great truck for someone who wants the most capable new truck from showroom floor where everything is covered under warranty and can be rolled in to a one monthly payment. For me, I would get...

2016 Tacoma DCSB...a work in (slow) progress

Looking really good and along the lines of what I want to build for my next vehicle. Did you notice any drop in fuel economy after installing the canopy and RTT, and what are you averaging?

    Igor's 2002 Montero gen 3 build

No, I did not take any, but can take one tomorrow. I only trimmed the piece that is attached to the door as that is where I saw a few tire marks. If you look at the trim with the door closed then you will see how door trim extends about an inch further under the car then the trim on rear fender...

    Igor's 2002 Montero gen 3 build

Got my results from the trip and I would say the average is about 16MPG. I had a few tanks where I drove at slower speeds that were in 17 to 18MPG range, and a few at about 14MPG, but the 14 was while driving at 75 to 80. If I keep it around 65 to 70 then 16 is achievable pretty easy. BFG TA KO2...

Gitout.com - Ultimate Expedition Build - 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Limited

Awesome, another question for you, with your lift did you end up doing a subframe drop or did you leave everything alone. I will be adding about an inch more lift to mine and just want to make sure that I don't encounter problems with my axles.
