Popping back in for a long overdue update. Been too busy riding my 2-wheeled adventure machines. Finished up the panels with threaded inserts on the rear doors. This isn't actually a finished picture (a bolt and the inserts not in the upper panel yet) but you get the idea- Had some fun in...

    Astro 4x4 Adventure VAN

I also use a hammock when sleeping in my van, but once I am finished with the interior insulation and paneling I will not have any good existing mounting points. How did you secure that front point without fear of damaging anything or having it pull out?

Here's a picture showing how the insulation lays under the PVC. One section of PVC shown here; the seams are taped and staggered between PVC and foam- Poor quality picture trying to show the floor fitment. I'm thinking I will use expanding foam in all the small gaps around the edges, which...

I stuffed closed-cell foam in the door cavity, then applied ensolite over the skin (exactly behind the pvc panel you see). I used expanding foam to bridge the gaps between outer sheet metal and inner door structure as you can see a bit above the pvc panel. This really helped the door feel...

I will probably never use half of those inserts, but why not install them now? I will keep all other inserts on the same grid pattern, so if I make any accessories down the road like hangers, shelves, storage, whatever, they can be moved around to different places or taken out when not needed.

Thanks I also like that graphic direction the most so far. I cut out my first rear door panel yesterday, from 1/2" thick expanded PVC board. I installed T-nuts in pockets on the back side, then mounted the panel to the door using rivnuts / nutserts in the door skin. The T-nuts are threaded...

I am using the 1/8" peel and stick stuff from RAAM Audio, sold by the yard in 55" wide rolls, not sure which compound it is. I don't believe this is the most economic solution, and I chose it mainly for the convenience and simplicity. It does seem to be effective, but I can't really get a good...

DiBond is actually a brand name, 'aluminum composite panel' is more generic term. Our local source is Grimco: https://www.grimco.com/InfoPages/locations/denver.aspx Their version is called max-metal. https://www.grimco.com/Products.aspx?cid=0198 I should mention that there are a variety of...

Yesterday I finally got around to making a cup holder / console organizer. I've spilled at least 3 drinks by trying to balance them there and then taking a turn too quickly, so I figured it was about time. The holder is made from 1/4" DiBond, which is meant to be used for outdoor signage. It's...

Still too cold to paint or use any adhesives, so I took the side steps off to see how it looked. I like the look, time will tell if I miss them. I'll keep them in the garage until I decide for good. This morning there was condensation on the outside of the van body opposite of the ensolite...

Thanks everyone. At many point I've thought about buying a finished project instead of doing all this work, but I hope it will be worth it in the end. This weekend I finished up cleaning the floor inside and was able to prime it. Some of the welding on a wheel well before grinding smooth. I...

Hello fellow outdoorsey internet people! I am starting this thread to share my simple camper / motorcycle hauler build as it progresses. The goal is to end up with a minimalist rig that I can camp out of and still use to haul stuff without ruining the inside. Progress has been slow so far...

    New ArkPak?

Thank you for the information. I was referring to the port circled here: I can just wire in a controller if need be, but was hoping to have something halfway portable, and reducing clutter is a priority for me. I'm annoyed that this all-in-one type product has a charge controller built in...

    New ArkPak?

Being uneducated on this type of thing, I have a couple questions- 1- Is a 110v wall charger included with the 730? 2- Can I wire solar panels to plug into the 24v charge port on the side, avoiding the need for a separate charge controller for the panels? Sorry if I'm missing the obvious, Thanks
