    1 ton man fort

Cool truck! Here's my converted ambulance. Drove it all the way to Panama and back. I'm currently in process of an interior rebuild.

Are there any other 2WD overlanders here?

Drove this all the way to Panama and back. We did get stuck twice, basically on top of the ground spinning in wet grass and black mud but got out easily. From my experience driving through Central America the key to the vehicle is good suspension! The roads are just rough and your vehicle really...

    Downloadable calender/scheduler

I use Mozilla Sunbird. It's free, simple and doesn't have to "interact" with the internet. You can find it here: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/

    Hard Side Lifting Roof

I found this hard side lifting roof in Germany from Finck Camping Systeme. http://www.expedition-cabin.de/en/home.html I sent them an e-mail regarding the price and having one shipped to the USA. Here's the reply: Hallo Herr Steele, vielen Dank für Ihre Email. Es freut uns sehr, dass Ihnen...

    Hannibal Awning Question

Does anyone know how long the side panels are on the Hannibal awnings? I'd like to get one for either the back or side of my truck and am trying to figure out if I can mount it to my rack or if I'll have to mount it lower on the side of the truck so the side panels reach all the way to the ground.

    Platforms in Use by Overlanders

Anytime you see a foreign expedition camper in the US you can usually go back to this site and find them there at some point. I saw a German Landcruiser rig this past weekend in Waynesville, NC and sure enough, they had been through Quinta Lala earlier this year.

    Just back from Central America

We could have easily gotten through those places with 4WD, no problem. And, as mentioned in a previous post, we got stuck a couple of times, right next to a standard Class C motorhome with dual wheels that had no problems. My truck is set-up to convert easily to dual wheels so I'm gonna give...

    Just back from Central America

I'd like to get one of these lifting roofs from Fincke Campingsystems in Germany. I've got an e-mail into them regarding the cost. If it's too expensive, I'll probably just add a raised roof myself, probably out of aluminum. And then still use a roof tent, most likely the Columbus model.

    Just back from Central America

My truck was just a stock, used ambulance that I found on the internet. I picked this truck because of the single rear wheels and the narrower width than some ambulances. We removed all the ambulance "stuff" and made it into my version of an "expedition camper". My son's gonna use it for a road...

    Just back from Central America

Carlyle, We camped at quite a few places from the "99 Days to Panama" book, camping places update and website. Another good resource/website is www.dare2go.com. Juergen and Yasha have been traveling over 1 1/2 years and we met them at the Belen Trailer Park in San Jose, Costa Rica. They are...

    Just back from Central America

Christian, We were in San Jose from 11/9 to 11/13 and then again on 11/22 & 11/23. If you saw a white van that looked like it was lost then it was definitely us! I finally figured out the roads in San Jose on our last day there. Adam

    Just back from Central America

Adam, now that you're home, what advice would you give to others who dream of visiting Central America, and of driving to the end of the road in Panama's Darién province? Chip Haven Chip, Here's the shortest answer I could come up with. Keep in mind these are my personal thoughts and...

    Just back from Central America

Hello all. I was a member of the ExpeditionCampers forum and found out that they had "joined forces" with Expedition Portal. I just got home yesterday from a 2 month trip to Central America. I took my father with me and we visited Mexico and all 7 countries in Central America. It was a great...
