Thanks I still haven't pulled the trigger yet. I too am unsure about the roof rack. My thought is to have the tent fold out over the back doors. I will build a deck with drawers for the back of the burb. The drawers will have a camp stove... and the tent will act as a cover while I'm cooking.

Here' the thread I've been looking for. But still not a lot of info. I have a 99' K-1500 and I'm intrigued by the idea of an RTT but not quite sold yet.

Does anyone run a Suburban with a roof top tent? I have a 99' k1500 that i just replaced everything; engine, trans a/c (compressor, coils and condenser), front end... After getting all (most) of the bugs out, I'm thinking I'll bypass the lift and go to an RTT instead. What are your thoughts...

I've a 99' just like her. I like what you've done so far. Unfortunately for me I had to replace everything before I could do the lift. I'm about $13K in her now: New crate engine, tran rebuild, new front end, new A/C evaporator condensers front and back , I redid the front seats.

I had a similar goals and similar situation with my 99 k-1500 burb. I just put in a new engine, trans, a/c... everything. I'm $11k in and way over budget. I opted with #4. I figured the stock burb has more clearance than most Overland vehicles. And it will still do 90% of everything i want to...

My wife and I are in the same boat; kids are gone so let's go play while we can. I started a tear drop build. One day I saw one at a gas station and asked the gentleman if I could check it out. I never knew how claustrophobic I truly was. I ended up using the plywood for another project.

I've got a 99 just like her. I just dropped in a new crate 5.7, new A/C system, new front end. Now I'm saving up for a 2" lift and tires.

Thanks for your comments. I'm hoping this rig will do both. However, it only has "Soccer Mom 4X4" so it limits how crazy I get off road. But on the other hand, if I bang it up, no big deal. I've pretty muched maxed out my budget for the burb so any other up grades will have to be next year...
