Thanks guys. The reason for switching to a YJ is that I had a CJ5 in high school and I miss the simplicity of the open top jeep on leaf springs, but I want efi. Also, I'm a broke college student and I can get a YJ for significantly cheaper than a TJ, and for the type of build I have in mind...

So I'm thinking I want to get a YJ to replace my current Xterra, I want something with SFA and the 2 Jeeps I had in high school were both fanastic ('81 CJ5 and '78 Wagoneer). I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me what the distance is between the back of the front seats with them all the way...

:drool: That would be perfect. Also, since everyone is complaining about the price, I got on Ram's website and Ford's website. I built a basic RCLB with tow package diesel and eceboost. The Ram diesel ended up being $330 cheaper than the diesel, after haggling with a salesman it'll be a wash.

Was thinking, one of these as an RCLB with a flip pac and a long travel suspension would probably make for a pretty sweet expedition rig for 2 people. Ought to ride nice at least.

There's a certain amount to be said for getting an option just because you want it. I know plenty of people that want a diesel just because. When I was in high school I drove my dad's Duramax quite a bit and that truck was the most fun I've ever had on the road, tons of get up and go...

I'd check into a Liberty CRD, I know OME makes a lift for them and I've heard of 24 mpg on the average. But a frontier would also be a good choice.

I'm waiting til it's actually released to pass judgement, maybe it'll end up being pretty capable. With it being as small as it is you and a passenger should be able to carry it over any bad obstacles:elkgrin:

What I'd like to see? About the size of a 1st gen Taco, turbo diesel getting 25-30 mpgs, a TRD option with vinyl seats and floors, manual tranny and t-case, oh, and a 5k drop in price. That would be the perfect mini truck. What we'll get? Bigger, cushier, power and automatic everything...

It's basically the same as running wheels with less back spacing. The advantages are looks and slightly better stability. The cons have been covered pretty well by other people. Personally, if you feel like you need a wider track width for the added stability then wheel spacers are a good...

Do you mean Kahr? If so, they have a long break in period but they're good little shooters. Kahr also has a 40 in that size, if you really want to pack a pocket cannon :elkgrin:

What width of wheels are you guys running with these tires? It seems like a 6.5" wide would be about perfect, but I can't find anything narrower than 7"

I totally forgot about those little Tercels! That may just be the winner. The aftermarket support that I want would basically consist of a mild lift, gears, lockers, that kinda stuff. Bumpers, sliders and skid plates can be fabricated easy enough.

I know I could get by on 33"s, I'd just rather have the little extra clearance of 35"s. And I'm perfectly happy with a frankenrig.

I want to run 35" tires. My aim is to have a solid trail rig that can be driven on the street when needed as well as do some short camping trips. The Toyota diff is 8" but they are commonly used with up to 37" tires just fine. The Toyota t-case is a passenger side drop.
