    Gen 3 debate, 3.5 or 3.8?

Have you done this? Any problems with the stability control after going to LSD?

Yet another 3rd Gen Montero "Build", also story time!

I was able to secure my airbox lid by drilling the tabs for sheetrock screws but I only have a couple thousand miles on that "repair". I drilled the top just enough for the screws to spin and the bottom small enough for a good bite.

Yet another 3rd Gen Montero "Build", also story time!

It sounds like you can tell it's not running right at idle. I'd remove the EGR valve and try it while holding a gloved finger over the passages on the intake. Do you hear any hissing from the engine bay (vacuum leak)?

Gen 3 ... Door unlocks itself

I thought KyleT might be suspecting a bad remote transmitter which would be easy enough to test by removing it from the keyring or switching to your other set of keys/transmitter unless there's one lost in the car. Do all doors unlock? I thought I had read just the driver's but maybe made that...

Gen 3 ... Door unlocks itself

I like where you're going with this. Also does it normally blink/honk when using the remote transmitter? I believe both functions can be disabled (or maybe just the honk?)

Gen 3 ... Door unlocks itself

Right after locking or later? Maybe the actuator can't complete the full lock stroke so it gives up after a second or two?

When and how to use the off road capabilities of the Montero

I wouldn't call myself an expert on the subject but some all-wheel-drive systems use a center differential in, or in place of, the transfer case. This allows the front/rear wheels to travel at different speeds as needed in high traction situations typical to all-wheel-drive mode on roads. I'm...

Gen 3 Montero traction control vs mud -- tire selection?

The funny thing is, I though I had tested that before. I guess I ASSUMED since the traction control was still active the throttle control would be also? Or maybe the traction control has different programs between AWD and High Lock modes?

Gen 3 Montero traction control vs mud -- tire selection?

Thank you, Michael Brown! I had not made the distinction between ASC and Traction Control when it comes to throttle control. I normally try not to spin the tires but got a chance to test this a little on the way home tonight as it rained rained pretty good while we were out. Once i...

Gen 3 Montero traction control vs mud -- tire selection?

Hi, All. After looking at about a dozen Land Cruisers and LX470s I bought the first Montero I drove, a 2005 Limited. It may replace a lifted Wrangler TJ on 33" KO2s (swore I was going to go for Swampers this time and maybe wish I had but snow...) or may just compliment that by being about 100x...
