    Battery Jumper cable recommendations?

First, I can’t believe I just read three pages about jumper cables. My loss. But $100+ for jumper cables with non-commercial application? Overland fever there. Just got back from DV, way back in the cuts, where I jumped my pal’s battery with $15 HF cables. Took a few minutes to charge, but ******...

Damn...solid truck and well-done advert. Loved the fotos at Folsom Lake. Wish I had the corn to jump on this, let me know if you fancy a trade for a 2011 Nissan Titan Pro-4X.

    Rear ladder gear bag

That is a great looking unit, kudos on the effort! I am curious though...what is the intent of such a bag, coupled with a vehicle with copious interior space? Is this a Trasharoo? Exterior storage for smelly items? Wot goes in?

Vehicle research - school me on Titans....

I've had two Titans, a 2009 and it's replacement, a 2011 Pro 4X. Just about to turn 100k on the clock. You are correct, that Nissan and Ram both seem to be 'sleeper' options that give a lot of bang for the buck, especially on the used market. That was attractive to me. Quick summary: I love the...

I hate this process. Vehicle ideas/input?

I'm sorry about your rig. That does indeed suck. I honestly cannot believe you packed all of that gear into a 4runner, even with seats removed. It sounds like a full-size truck with a cap will check all of your boxes nicely, and you would be hard-pressed to beat the value of the Ram. Sounds like...

Winter camping in the Sierra Nevada

Grouse Ridge is my favorite playground, we do a winter backpacking trip every year, this year to Island Lake. It was windy AF, well into the teens with wind chill. So nice to be alone out there!

    Three Generations in Death Valley.

Really great trip report, and great photos. Way to soldier through the technical difficulties and make the most of it. Great to model that never-say-die attitude for the next generation! Your son is guaranteed to remember this trip for the rest of his days, and that experience is truly priceless.

What do you really NEED for overlanding

Wow....lotta info here. Sounds like you have a capable rig, and you should be able to go out and have fun without dropping the $$$$$. My kit includes shovel, gloves, jack, recovery strap, tire plugs, cheapo air compressor. A sensible first aid kit, plenty of food, and several days’ worth of...
