Fathers' Day Gathering 2009 (pictures and stories)

I shall not elude these pages any longer. Great fun it was! Me=No Camera. My son still talks about the trip; the muddy bums, snow, running with cousins, and of course, the water crossings--he loves them and I can't complain about that. Nostalgia is still here after settling in only a couple...

    Hyundai'ish?

I missed out on diesel and that spins my head more than all the rest above. I could go into it in more detail (e.g. alternative fuel, EPA idiots, the Potomocentric Machine, etc., etc.) but it can be for another thread. If this new wave even thought about a diesel I would forgive its other...

    Topless

Yeah, you're with me. I thought this was like a Topless thread that happened to have Toyotas in it :D. The truck isn't bad though. Forgive my grumbling as I sit here in self pitty that not only do I not have the 45 I want, I don't have a diesel in the 45 that I don't have... ...but want...

Fun with military tires on an 80...

I guess the point more so being those are just a few of the situations where rubbing has not occured. Because you don't think you need to flex as much doesn't mean the articulation does not exist to do so. If you like the set-up I guess I would suggest some bump stops that prevent the...

    Help a guy out...

Its so old people like you can get into and out of the vehicle with ease. Or another perfect example would be Bim. If it were off-road related it would have gone into the LC not the LX :)

    Help a guy out...

?????? Are the LX torsions not more rigid/heavier than the LCs. I've been looking at my extra LC set and the LXs and I am pretty darn sure the LXs are beafier. I guess either way, I'd just get a set of OMEs to go heavier.

Fun with military tires on an 80...

Like the tires but I am with SoCalFJ (Post #10) I still think rubbing and other issues are unavoidable if you truly want to use the suspension/vehicle to its fullest.

1600 Eezi-Awn for the Family? Honestly.

I do think you could squeez in. While I also agree with Durango60, I feel that upon purchase of the tent, you may need to purchase a Rover to go under it. Don't forget the cheesecake! Honestly. Actually, I have no idea. tape out the 1600 measurements in your living room (move toys out of...

    What year FJ80 is best?....

I agree with you Kurt as well as some od Pskhaat's points. There are soooo many combinations possible-but we are off topic I believe. Out of the box US 80 series. best year??? They are all "good" benefits and drawbacks to each. 93-97 1FZ good engine, as said. A bit more difficult for...

Expedition Portal national clean up day?

Depending on snow pack (which isn't much right now) beginning of April may be too early for some of our mountain trails, but we can always choose a more southerly trail here in the Four Corners for this first year-I would love to do something like this. Do we have any media savvy folks...

Poll: how many of you know that driving in washes in AZ is illegal?

So true, so true. I have faught with my own emotions several times regarding, off-road use, wildlife habitat, preservation, conservation, sustainable management, and on, and on, and on. As a wildlife biologist by education, environmental consultant by proffession, avid off-road enthusiast...
