Danner Mountain Light II - An on-going review

I had a pair of Danner Mtn Lts that I used for close to 15 years. Some years more than others, but they got steady winter time use over that time period. It finally came time to send them back to Danner to get new soles and freshing up. Danner replied they were to scared to resole due to how...

    1986 Bronco 2 Newbie Build

Overlanding? Save the money from an axle swap and use it on fuel to travel. I saw one of those of those things, in bare stock form, tackle everything a FZJ80 and FJ60 did on a moderate day of wheeling in Windrock park. If you want to rock crawl then go for the axle swap. But if you just want to...

What would I be missing/gaining...Excursion vs Sequoia??

None of those things strengthen dependability. Perhaps less annoying but that vehicle, stock, is pretty danged dependable. I sold my dad's 2003 7.3 PSD Excursion and at the time it had 287,000 miles on it and it had some of the same electrical issues, but it was very dependable. Again, not sure...

    The East Tennessee Tour

Great trip. That's my back yard. I love the North side and usually have to beg folks to head that way. The state has quite a bit more trail straight north out of the Flats that can take days to explore (North Cumberland OHV).

Request: photos of child seats in the back of your 80

I threw the base away. Our infant carrier allowed us to secure the carrier without it. Much better. By the way, whomever wrote the rules for kids and car seats must have never traveled anywhere with kids.

Top 10 Used Overland Vehicles: Do you agree?

So true. I get a good laugh when I see a modded out 100 or 80 on the trails with a snorkel, jerrycans, dual spare tires, shovel, and light bars. Then some good ole boy out drives them in a bone stock Bronco II.

How young is to young to start kids camping?

It amazes me how people forget where we came from. I almost never take a tent camping and most people are astounded at the fact of just sleeping on the ground. I take my kids camping all the time. Our first trip with my youngest was when he was 3 months old.

Western United States in a 4Runner

Why not sleep under the stars or an EZup? I rarely setup a tent because as you mention it can be a repeated hassle.

Quick trip to western North and South Carolina

Thanks for the thread. I am local to this part of country and I always enjoy seeing others explore it. However you showed up to a gun fight with a rusty dull butter knife. While your Surly works well for some trails, don't knock Pisgah's raw, natural terrain because it and your skills left you...
