Tell me about the Jeep Commander

Had a 2010 hemi, limited, 4wd commander, loved it, great on-road manners. 4wd worked very well too. Limited aftermarket availability / lifts, but there are a few options. Just be prepared to fill up often! 11 mpg, about a 200 - 220 mile range. By comparison my yukon xl 6.3L denali gets 17 - 20...

    2014 Ram Powerwagon

What psi do you run in your AT2's? I've got the same tires on my 2500 cummins, and I'm getting an odd wear / lug cracking issue in the front. I've generally loved the ride / low noise level but concerned I may have to replace sooner than I expected to.

To shell or not shell... That is the question...?

I went through the same dilemma when I got my truck. I really wanted to keep the ability to carry large items, but I also wanted lockable storage. So I got a Pace Edwards Jackrabbit (aluminum roller). I love it, but now considering what else I would want to do in the future for maybe a...

Under bed mounted water tank/vs jerry cans

Us RV users drain free water as best as possible and then add RV anti-freeze to our lines in the winter. It is safe for potable water systems and you just flush it out with fresh water when ready. You can find it at wal-mart or any RV supply.

The Ram that ate the Jeep . . . My Build Thread

Had a little fun with the truck this last weekend. And I got to spend some quality time with my daughter, so it made for a very good day. I had been to Hidden Falls (Marble Falls, TX area) a few times before with the Jeep, this was the first time with the truck so i was curious how it would...

Hard Tonneau - interior bed clearance

I had the same issue, wanted the cover for the bed but also carry taller items at times, so I opted for a rolling bed cover and I have been very happy with it. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk

The Ram that ate the Jeep . . . My Build Thread

Its a 3.42 for the moment... I "plan" to add lockers and redo the gears next year when I do the control arms. I may decide to opt for the winch and bumpers first though, still up for thought. As far as the Toyos, I specifically chose the AT2s (and had them shipped cross-country) because I...

The Ram that ate the Jeep . . . My Build Thread

I get a very slight rub on the control arms as they are stock for the moment, but it's manageable. Those are on the list of next big mods for next year. I looked heavily at the power wagon, but towing capacity finally swayed my decision. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk

The Ram that ate the Jeep . . . My Build Thread

CB and brake controller Added a new CB over the weekend, Uniden Bearcat 980 SSB, and since it got installed where I previously had my Prodigy brake controller, I finally got around to installing the OEM brake controller i've had sitting in the to-do pile for awhile now. I'm pretty happy with...

Fun treks data into backcountry navigator on android tablet?

Solved! Ok, so I guess I will answer my own question! I couldn't get the data from the card to be recognized by searching for the sd card directory from within Backcountry navigator. However, I simply used a file explorer app and copied the tracks, waypoints, and trailhead folders from the...

Fun treks data into backcountry navigator on android tablet?

I recently bought one of the fun treks micro sd data cards for the colorado trails and I was hoping that I could import them into backcountry navigator app on my Samsung android tablet. Has anyone successfully done this? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk

Building 04 ram 2500 into expo rig. need thoughts/advice

Really like your build so far. I'm digging the bumper, going to call Fusion as soon as I get back from Africa and see what their price range is for a winch setup on my '13. Also curious if you have any details / rough dimensions on your rack. I bought a short term solution for over my bed...

Lets see some full size pictures...

Nice find. I've been keeping my eyes open for a 2500 burb too. And it sounds like you need a new boyfriend.... but then I guess the same could be applied to all of us whose wives don't agree either LOL!

Ideas for bed storage under cover

I recently added a retractable tonneau cover to my 13' 2500 CTD and I'm looking for some ideas on storage / expedition setup. I need something flexible between just using the truck for camping/exploring/offroading and something for hauling extra family gear when I'm towing the camper up to a...

The Ram that ate the Jeep . . . My Build Thread

Sorry to burst your bubble, but you are wrong. Honeycombs, very little mass, very strong rigid structure that has been repeated over and over again in structural design, for example... the original idea behind creating expanded metal. To be clear, there are different versions that have varying...

The Ram that ate the Jeep . . . My Build Thread

So one thing I will be looking to improve in the future will be fuel economy. I averaged 13.6 mpg on the Colorado trip. I knew I would drop some with the larger tires; however, I also know others have gotten much better results out of this engine. So I am looking at the Bully Dog unit and EFI...

The Ram that ate the Jeep . . . My Build Thread

redthies answered that one pretty well for me. I will also add that I had both a 2 dr hardtop Jk and then a 4 dr softtop. Both were loud as jet engines on the highway with 35s, even duratracs. For comparison, we took the 4 dr on the same trip to Colorado 3 years ago. I could barely talk to my...

The Ram that ate the Jeep . . . My Build Thread

I plan on completely re-doing the floor of the rack with a new support structure and then adding the expanded metal. However, if I had just fully welded the expanded metal around the perimeter it would also help the rigidity of the overall structure. But for long-term use, and the load of the...

The Ram that ate the Jeep . . . My Build Thread

Loving the cover. I was a little concerned as a few people had mentioned these types of covers leak. However after the 2,000 mi round-trip to Colorado with a few inches of snow and heavy rain since, it has definitely met my expectations. Its not water-tight / bone dry, but good enough to...

The Ram that ate the Jeep . . . My Build Thread

Yes, but I was familiar with the design of them. For the price point and getting the dimensions I wanted it was great. But yes I knew I would need to beef it up more. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
