    Comparison: 1300, 416, 404, Volvo TGB, Pinz

Sometimes I wish... .... that I had gotten a 1300L instead of a 416 because it's quieter, easier to add air conditining to, and can be made faster & more powerful by adding overdrive & a turbocharger which are not possible on the 416 (the turbocharger is somewhat possible in a 416 but how far...

Close to buying a Mog- what do I need to know?

For a frame of reference... ... here's my Unimog next to the previous members of my fleet , next to Mike's camper Mog:Wow1:, and next to the Dino Mog:bowdown:. Lengthwise and widthwise my Unimog is roughly the size of an extended cab pickup. A Doka should be about the...

    InterMog

If you want to get a Unimog that you can drive on the highway for five figures you're not going to find anything in the U500 range except for just below that. Your best bet would be to get an SBU like a 1300 and then retrofit it with fast axles/fast hubs, a Claas overdrive, and a turbocharger...

Close to buying a Mog- what do I need to know?

Before making the final deal I would check out the axles & hubs thoroughly. 1. Climb up under the truck and look at the back of each wheel carefully. If there's grease radiating outward from the center all over the inside of the wheel a seal is blown. This isn't the end of the world but it's...

    open office vs MS office

I bought a Samsung NC10 for work to take notes on at meetings. I didn't want to spring for the high cost of MS Office since all I would be using the computer was to take notes on. So I decided to start using OpenOffice instead. So far OpenOffice has been good to use and I have been able to...

    Unimog vs. ....

Some of Sonke's points might be valid for the larger Unimogs like they use for Unicats and the like but I don't think they're valid for the smaller ones like the 416 and 1300. Weight could be a problem if you don't have the right self-recovery equipment along but duning shouldn't be a problem...

    Show Me Your Winch Bumpers!!!

Here's what I had put on my Unimog... It's got a 16000# Warn stuck up in there. Mounted just below the right frame rail (picture left) there's a receiver tube that I put my trailer hitch into to make it easier to back my utility trailer into tight places. I still need to toughen up the...

    Long Frame 4 Door Unimog

I've looked through the Unimog section and have seem people asking about four door Unimogs (Dokas) and questioning if the frame that was left behind the cab was long enough to make an expedition rig. While browsing on the Unimog Exchange I saw that a long frame Doka with a long bed just came up...

    Unimog vs. ....

Big Truck? Hard to repair/find parts for? Too slow/loud? Everyone throughout this thread has been saying how BIG a Unimog is. My 416 is actually no larger than an extended cab Super Duty- in length as well as width. The truck fits in a standard sized parking spaces with no problem at all...
