    TerraLiner:12 m Globally Mobile Beach House/Class-A Crossover w 6x6 Hybrid Drivetrain

Tonto Pics Back on page 29 I looked at a Tonto 4 mining bus recently and took a few photos underneath. sorry about the orientation problems. It looks like the chassis is stiffened and the shell sits on top. I guess it is still not any clearer.

LPG and cooking fuels generally in expedition vehicles

I want to go all diesel, however the price tag is almost as frightening as the price of a single rear wheel conversion. I checked the prices recently, the Webasto cook top was about $1800, and the Webasto water/room heater system was about $2900. I still have to convince the Missus that a...

    Fuso Canter versus Isuzu

It might be a thicker chassis, but it looks like swiss cheese in this photo!

    Cracks in rear cross members

Thanks Engineer The fish plate, is it just 3 bits of plate welded together? I guess this is what is meant by plating the area to reinforce it. cheers Michael

    Cracks in rear cross members

Here is a close up, it will give you some idea of where you might feel the crack with your fingernail if the crack is bad. Thanks for the comments on Volvo bits Engineer, do you have any tips on which Volvo model I should be looking for. I should point out that the cracks only became...

    Cracks in rear cross members

I was giving my 1993 FG439 chassis some paint prior to starting on a new camper body and I noticed cracks that start between the lower rivets in the cross members at the rear of the truck. Cracking issues were discussed in the FG fleet mechanic interview thread. The concerning bit is that...

    Build up costs

My aircon is pathetic but it is good enough for me. (just) I put a lot of effort into sound proofing which also acts as thermal insulation. That and getting the windows tinted have meant the aircon has less work to do. The whining from the passengers is now down to a mild whimper, the problem...

    Build up costs

Will that work with the 1993 Dual Cab? I tried it once and got it about 5 inches up using jacks. I then decided that I really did not know what damage I might be doing, and put it back down again.

Fuso FG not made for off-road

It sounds to me like dealer speak for "warranty is not going to cover this"

    Is this a silly idea

Yeah security especially with young kids is becoming more important. FG Tony seems to keep a low profile. I am after SRW too, but currently my desire is for 16s and XZLs. But we cant rush these things. I will have to do something by winter 2010 before the next big trip.

    Is this a silly idea

15K should easily cover a basic no frills body. The only catch with my camper on the tray is weight, as my tray is quite heavy. Adding a pop top that extends over the cabin will requires a lot of extra steel to support it. So if it is an older 5 tonne truck you rapidly start to reach your...

    Is this a silly idea

Have you considered building your own camper body? It is likely a 2nd hand truck will have a tray, and it is not difficult to MIG weld a frame together, bolt it down and clad it in alloy.

    Registration Fees

I think business rates down here are about $2500 per annum and that is just as a truck, I presume carrying passengers means they would slug you for more. I am curious to find out what NSW charges for a similar motor home, when I first registered in Canberra I new there was a concession, but no...

    Hi All

It requires patience and carefully studying of all the auction sites. In the current financial climate you should be able to do a lot better. Check Pickles and Airport Auctions, and the other auction sites most have listings in the major newspapers. I would not buy the red one on the basis...
