Have the rods in my RRS. When used with the RSW tool, it's a pretty cheap but effective package. Incredibly easy to install.

Maybe I'm way off base, but I would compare the LR2 more to a Subaru Outback than an LR3/4. Not a bad thing, just not the same ballpark. I own a Legacy and a RRS, and have owned 2 Outbacks and a Disco 2. There are many places off road that I wouldn't think about taking the Subies that the RRS...

Last comment I will make about this truck. Does he really think he can sell a 12 year old LR transmission with 150,000 for $1,250? A salvaged D2 with 150k and a blown head/pump is really only worth what the body and tires could recoup. The rest of the parts are inconsequential.

It also says it has a salvage title. I don't think a blown head gasket gets you a salvaged title. Check accident and/or katrina/flood history.

Nah...you can get a running '02 for just a few grand more. And if you're going to build up a Disco, may as well start with an '04. Up here (near Yellowstone) you shouldn't have to worry about humans THAT much (every year there is one small run of wallets being stolen from cars near trailheads, but it tends to be a bored 16yo). Bears are a concern...but I keep my fridge inside my RRS with no issues (yet) and did the same...
