subaru is great but not true 4wd and no low range.

my ex-trooper (96) burnt oil like there's no tomorrow. And weak tranny slipped like there's no tomorrow. All this while achieving TERRIBLE gas milage.. Just my experience.

Also it depends on where you are camping. Where I live, there are too many cougars, wolves and bears around, I just don't feel safe enough to take my kids out so young..(under 2)

Couldn't be more wrong. IFS equiped 4runner/FJ/Tacoma/100series LC/GX470 sell just as well and as long as you are not rock crawling, they are just as good.
