Smart Cars are the most ridiculous pieces of junk ever made...... For a wide variety of reasons........

I've seen a Liberty with its ARB bumpers, plastic fender flares and lower half of the doors (under the bump strips) done in "Herculiner".....looked awesome, and was functionally protective to. Any little bumps to those areas or rock scrapes or tree branches, just slid right off, didnt affect...

Hummer, remained profitable without little dinky cars..... Land Rover remained profitable without dinky cars (Yes the Freelander was a smaller thing, but nothing lie the COmpass or Panda) Both never "went away"......and even thought they may be switching owners regularly, they are still around...

Jeep needs to be standalone, and not mixed in with junk that quite frankly should have other brands attached to it. You never saw a dinky Hummer.....(chrome and totally lame yes, but never a little dinker car) Jeep needs to be "that guy" and hook in with International, or Peterbilt, or even...

Haha, a firearms holster up there is great, I love it, but around here, if you get pulled over with something like that, you'll have a Police pistol jammed into your face and with some very loud repitive commands to keep your hands up and to exit the Jeep......:victory:

I'd be leaning towards the whole "Gimmick" thing, it certainly is a "Badge of pride" for alot of owners, but I don't think its a functionally effective piece of equipment.

Some excellent points that I am total agreement with. The JK is a different machine from the TJ, and you have to do the mods intelligently.

No, the magnets were pretty strong and flat, the branches just slid right over them. I do like your idea better though, makes each piece lighter and easier to store. :sombrero:

Yep I thought about that when I made mine....mine were on the outside of the door. I only had them on while on a trail or logging road, took them off for freeway driving.

I did the exact same thing here last year. In June the bugs get HUGE and vast.....and are very hungry. Only difference is, I did it with magnets instead of velcro on all four doors.....but I like the velcro idea. :sombrero:

Yeah, its an awesome shot to. Just looking at the body roll, you'd think it was going over, but then you look down at the tires and they are firmly planted and moving well....at least thats how it looks. Get some flexy shots when you get a chance, looks like a great set-up.

Yeah, I'd say you were moving pretty good....I know what you mean about having your attention elsewhere! I used to drive rally cars....its a little difficult to really see much else than where you're going! Nice shots....the suspension looks like it was working well!
