    New rig 1990 V1500 Suburban

Wow, this is the first burb I've seen with the exact same Chinook conversion as mine. Sounds like our plans are about the same too. I snagged a FF 14bolt and 8 lug 10 bolt that I'm building up right now. It's no 60, but it will do for now. I never realized I was missing the wood trim pieces...

Great idea! Maybe a layer of DynaMat, or similar product, on the inside too.

Also picked these guys up for a good price. I wanted a Dana 60 for the front, but this FF 14 bolt rear and Dana 44 front will be more axle then I will need for a while. So I'll be slowly building these in the garage along with a lift and when its complete, I'll swap them out. I want to build...

I finally got around to snapping some more pictures of my pig. I could not have asked for a better stock platform for this price. Its taken us to the mountains, the beach, hauled lumber, carried an entire platoon of men, and the best part is, THE KIDS LOVE IT! Its pretty big on the inside...

    My 1989 Suburban overland/expedition project

Sad too see the Burb go. Your build was one of the many on this site that convinced me I needed one. I just picked up a 91 Suburban 1500 a couple months ago up in Gig Harbor. I cant wait to get back in the states and start building it!

Sorry, no close ups at the time and I'm out of town for a little while. But it looked like the PO just hacked off some of the supports out of the door frame and laid the carpet back into the opening. Its very convenient, but I will have to go in sometime and clean up his work. Im sure if you...

Haha, Thanks Renntag. I'm sure that if there ever was a TV, that it has been long removed. But following the wires is good idea. Maybe I can put a new one in for my daughter sometime.

New Suburban Just picked up this 1991 Suburban V1500 last week for our new family camper/ weekend warrior project. It appears to be a "trail Wagon" conversion by Chinook. Anyone have any more info on this model? It has 4 captain chairs up front, strip lighting down the headliner, and a switch...

"The Oasis of my Soul"... a Lifelong Journey on the road...

Keep us updated on the movie! I would love to see it. As I'm sure most of us here would. I love reading your posts every chance I get. I found this site a little late, but I have gone back and read through all of your Archives and loved every minute of it. Keep it up.

Living on the road vehicles (non-rv's)

Are you traveling solo? If so, you could choose a smaller more fuel efficient vehicle and remove the rear seat as well as the passenger seat. Then build the sleeping platform to extend up to the front. I've seen guys sleep in Jeep Wranglers with this set up.
