    Family Expo JK build

Hey Jason- nice to see you made your way to Expo Portal! Is the TJ you just sold the 2000 that you bought from me a few years ago when I was in Germany?

Who Still uses cast iron while traveling?

I grew up cooking on cast iron pans and I've recently converted my fiancée to use them, too. Although we've typically used steel pans while camping in the past, we're about to switch to cast iron in the field. If I have any advice to give on this subject, it's this: go to eBay or antique stores...

    Reducing rattles in a JKUR

Thanks for all the replies. I still haven't tracked the rattle down. Just to make sure, I reapplied electrical tape to the door striker and used chapstick to lubricate the heck out of the catch (yup, chapstick! It was recommended), but it still didn't solve anything. I'm not the first owner- it...

    Reducing rattles in a JKUR

Yes- it doesn't seem to matter how many passengers I have with me.

    Reducing rattles in a JKUR

I run all hard doors and hard top. Sometime this Spring I'm going to remove all the doors and top to see if that affects the sound at all. I've questioned the seatbelt hardware too- I've tried rattling it myself or pressing on the assembly to see if it would help, but nothing changed. I've been...

    Reducing rattles in a JKUR

Ok, I'll preface this with the fact that this is my 5th Wrangler- they all rattle. Being that this is my first Expo build, I'm trying to cut down on the amount of annoying rattles to increase the spouse approval rating. My current rig is a 2012 JKUR and I've had this rattle that I can't seem to...

What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

+2 on the Peterson's! I couldn't believe the difference, as long as you aim them properly. It was a little weird getting used to the bright road markings and the sharp reflections when hitting bumps, but I certainly think it's one of my best mods to date.

    Pansonic Toughbook with GPS

I've looked into the MOPAR hotspot you're referring to and it's a joke, in my opinion. It serves the same function as a hotspot that you could find at any AT&T or Verizon store- the only wire it uses is to connect it to 12v power in the jeep. If you decide that you need wifi in your Jeep, just...

    Carrying cases in a JK

I've considered PVC tubing and just cutting a slot to accommodate a reel, then using quickfists to mount it to the inside of the top, but I was wondering if anyone else had an idea that would cover the reels and protect them from sun and dust damage. I suppose I could just pull out the trusty...

    '12 JKUR- First Expedition Build

Got around to installing the Cobra 75 CB over the weekend. Pretty straight forward install thanks to all the pictures online. I really like the Cooltech mount for the mic- there just isn't a good place to mount one in a JK. My original plan was to mount the clip to one of the center vent flaps...

    Carrying cases in a JK

I have three rods I carry with me regularly in my JK: a 4-piece fly rod, a 2-piece medium spinning rod and a 2-piece ultralight rod. The fly rod has a nice tube for storage, but I'm having a helluva time trying to find short tubes for the spinning rods that don't require me to remove the reels...

    Portable Air Compressor Question

I would really like to run a York on my JK, just to be able to run air tools, but I've only seen the kit from Off Road Only, and it's not chump change! It's not the York that's expensive- they're a dime a dozen in junkyards up here- it's the bracket and pulleys. For now, I'm hoping that my MV50...

    Portable Air Compressor Question

I was looking for an excuse to buy an MV50 for the last couple years until yesterday when my fiancée's tire was flat. I was able to find one at Northern Tool for $55 out the door- far cheaper than anything I could find on Amazon or Pep Boys. They have a sale on their website right now- was...

    '12 JKUR- First Expedition Build

Thanks- Slowly but surely, it's getting to where I want it to be. Thanks! I'm still on the fence about the lights. I still need to aim them better this weekend- it's such a drastic change going from having almost no headlight power to having such a bright white light straight ahead of you. I'm...

    '12 JKUR- First Expedition Build

Took a quick drive tonight. The light output is WAY more than I expected- much better than stock. I may need to adjust the lights down a bit- I felt like I was shining people, even though nobody flashed their lights at me. The cutoff is clean, but the light pattern looks like you're looking down...

    '12 JKUR- First Expedition Build

Got a few things finished lately in preparation for winter. First one I didn't get any picture of- installing heated seats. I've ridden in a few vehicles in with heated seats and I started to like it. Having a bad back and sitting in heated seats when I hop in the Jeep is a lifesaver! Plus...

License Plate/3rd Brake Light Relocation and Trasharoos

What is everyone else doing when using a Trasharoo after relocating your license plate/3rd brake light? I've found my Trasharoo WAY more useful than I thought I would, but I've been wanting to relocate my license plate and 3rd brake light to my spare tire. Unfortunately, that means that they...

    Engine: Upgrade 3.8 to 3.6?

If you're ever in the St. Paul area, you're welcome to take mine for a spin. I have a 2012 JKUR with 34" Toyos, 4.10 gearing and it's a manual. I've owned several Wranglers, but I've never driven a 3.8, so I can't say how it compares to the 3.6. Shoot me a PM anytime!
