    4th gen 4runner tire size

When I first got my 4runner I wanted to do a suspension lift and get larger tire but the more I drive it on and off road the more I am considering leaving it stock. After going on some adventures with it I feel it is quite adequate for my needs. I even got to pull someone out of a ditch up on...

I need advice on my 4th gen 4runner

Thanks, that helps me feel confident in that setup. I seen a guy on TR4.org has a similar setup. If I am having a garage install my new suspension, should I have the struts assembled when I buy them or would it be cheaper/better to just let the garage do that? Did your tire rub at all with...

I need advice on my 4th gen 4runner

Thanks for the info. I see two breathers in my engine bay. I think I will attempt to run the rear diff breather line to the engine bay but have not decided yet. I was also looking at the Toytec Boss suspension also. It looks like a nice set up. But two inches in the back is a bit more than I...

I need advice on my 4th gen 4runner

My 03 Xterra needed too much work to pass inspection so I wanted to buy a new vehicle. I really wanted a landcruiser or a gx470 but they are out of my price range so I decided on a 4th gen 4runner after a ton of research. I found an 06 sport edition v6 with only one previous owner and just...

    03 Xterra oil level?

I checked my oil level in my 03 xterra today and on one side of the dip stick the oil level shows right in between high and low on the scale but the scale on the other side of the dip stick shows no oil. So my question is would this mean it is at a good level or should one side be covered and...

    Whitewater canoe

After a lot of research and talking to some guys on another forum I decided a more traditional solo canoe would be more versatile and soot most of my needs. I have been looking at a few models that are capable of 1 and 2 class rapids. After I develop my paddleing skills and if I need more of a...

    Whitewater canoe

I have been looking into getting a canoe or kayak recently. I came across a 11 foot white water canoe. It is a Mohawk probe 11. I am wondering if I could take this canoe on a slow moving river or if it would be to difficult to keep straight. I know canoes designed for whitewater have a lot of...

    Flashlights

I used a maglite xl50 for years and was always happy with it. Its a great light for 30 dollars. But recently it started acting a little erratic. So I started researching for a new light and settled on a foursevens quark tactical 2a (qt2a). It is a great simple light. One advantage is it can use...

    Used dslr questions

I have an Olympus tough and as much as I love that rugged waterproof camera and as good as the image quality is, I have been wanting a dslr. Because of how expensive they are I think my only option is to buy a used one. I found a Canon Rebel T3 12.2 MP($399), a Nikon D3100 ($225 w/ no lense)...

A few questions on recovery gear

I have another question. From what I understand you want a snatch strap rated at 2.5 to 3 times the weight of your vehicle. With a 4000lb xterra plus people and gear that would be around 13,000 pounds. Is that the rating I want? I was looking at ARB straps and the lowest rating is around 17,000...

A few questions on recovery gear

Ok I think I will get the TMJ snatch strap and two bow shackles to go along with it. I think I will get a static recovery strap as well. I was looking at those receiver shackle brackets but I think I will just by two hitch pins and that should work for now.

A few questions on recovery gear

I have a stock xterra and I am looking at getting some basic recovery gear to start with. I have a good spare and a good set of Khumo AT tires and I put together a good trauma kit an a first aid kit. It also has a tow hitch which I think a rated to 6000lb for a rear recovery point. I have a...
