    Forester: ExPo Subaru Project

Subscribed. Just bought a 2014 Foz XT. Not in a hurry to start outfitting it (not a lot of aftermarket available yet anyway!) In the 2014 XT the lack of low range torque is somewhat helped out by the addition of the new X-Mode feature. Popular Mechanics sums it up better than I can: "X-Mode...

Subaru owners: Let's see your expedition rigs!

I became a Subaru owner last weekend! 2014 Forester XT. First order of business will be some crossbars, basket and fairing. Second order of business will be a light bar/brush bar, but I haven't found anyone selling one for the 2014 yet.

Cherokee Trailhawk vs. Grand Cherokee Laredo

I suppose I should update this thread with my final decision. I went the more sensible and economical route. It has almost as much storage space as the GC, gets better gas mileage than the Trailhawk, same ground clearance as the Trailhawk, has a 250HP turbo charged boxer engine, and will be able...

Cherokee Trailhawk vs. Grand Cherokee Laredo

Interesting take on why a Cherokee Trailhawk makes more sense than a GC Laredo from the Jalopnik Comments: "The GC Laredo is not available with Quadra-Trac II, which means no terrain-selection modes, and also no hill descent control. Manual cloth seats with no lumbar support. Steel wheels (in...

    Wrangler Unlimited grille

BMW and Jeep both have the 2 most iconic and consistent grills in the world. They may get updated headlights, different styling, etc but the 7 slot vertical grill IS Jeep. BMW IS the "kidney grill. " Changing it, to me, is sacrilege.

Cherokee Trailhawk vs. Grand Cherokee Laredo

I don't want to compare it to a GC with the quadralift or a jku because it isn't even close, but I was definitely surprised to see the trailhawk is a better off road vehicle at least on paper.

Cherokee Trailhawk vs. Grand Cherokee Laredo

Checked out a GC limited and a Cherokee trailhawk at the NAIAS today. The seating volume on the GC didn't feel that much bigger than the Cherokee, but obviously the storage area was bigger. The interior on the Cherokee was incredible. Chrysler really did a fantastic job! That said the GC...

Cherokee Trailhawk vs. Grand Cherokee Laredo

There is one located 50 miles from me that is for sale for $41k. Since the 2013s stopped being sold last spring I imagine the dealer may be willing to work with me. Might check it out.

Cherokee Trailhawk vs. Grand Cherokee Laredo

It's great to hear that the programming that Jeep put into the different modes works well. On the surface it can seem gimmicky, but obviously real world experience is showing they're very functional. By the time I get the new vehicle our snowy season will be over, so I'll have to wait until next...

Cherokee Trailhawk vs. Grand Cherokee Laredo

Cherokee's tank is 15.9 gallons actually. Grand is 24.something. This is actually something I've been factoring in my search. With current gas prices in my area it would mean a $55 fill up for the Cherokee and an $85 fill up for the Grand. Obviously the larger tank would be preferable if I was...

Cherokee Trailhawk vs. Grand Cherokee Laredo

I've definitely looked into the CPO option, but I'm pretty dead set on a 2014 model year Grand. I prefer the styling much more and the addition of the 8 speed trans is a big factor as well. That said..it would be hard to look away from a good deal on a well equipped 2012/13 V8 Limited or an...

Cherokee Trailhawk vs. Grand Cherokee Laredo

Thanks for your input. Like everyone else in the world I was taken aback when I saw the first photos of the Cherokee, but I've seen a few around my area on the road and in person they are very nice looking. Even though this will be my vehicle, my wife has some input into the choice and she has...

Cherokee Trailhawk vs. Grand Cherokee Laredo

AEV was an incredible company to work for! They're a fantastic group of people who are passionate about what they do. When I started there I was a total off-road/overland novice and not only did I learn a lot, but I came away with a new interest/hobby to explore. I left because the opportunity...

Cherokee Trailhawk vs. Grand Cherokee Laredo

I'm definitely leaning toward the Grand based on the more comfortable cabin and better storage, but until I've test driven each of them a couple of times I won't make a final decision. I'm going to the North American International Auto Show this weekend, so I will get to spend a some time inside...

Cherokee Trailhawk vs. Grand Cherokee Laredo

A good recommendation, but I plan on keeping this vehicle for 10-15 years so I'd like to start with a brand new model. I don't need to modify the suspension and current modern interior comforts are a requirement. If I couldn't stream the "Cars" soundtrack via bluetooth for my daughter she would...

From what I can see my GC configuration does include hill descent control.

Cherokee Trailhawk vs. Grand Cherokee Laredo

While you make good points about the chassis each is built on, I'm not really a traditionalist. I don't mind that the Cherokee is built on a car chassis. I'm definitely not interested in a stripped Grand Cherokee. I could add the "off-road adventure I" group to the GC, which would add skid...

Cherokee Trailhawk vs. Grand Cherokee Laredo

Hi all. This is my first ExPo post, but I am not foreign to overlanding/offroading/rockcrawling. I worked as the Website Manager at American Expedition Vehicles before my current job. I know the Wrangler is the be all end all of off-roading with a Jeep and I've experienced that in hemi-equipped...
