01 Taco DC-Fuse box, Relay box and Circuit Breaker

Just finished installing my BlueSea SafetyHUB 150 Fuse Box, a Hella Relay Box and a BlueSea Circuit Breaker@100amps.

Most of the items were bought from Amazon or Del-City.

I originally tried to use the Blue Sea 5026 fuse box.
But unfortunately I had no real room to mount it where I wanted.

So after I remeasured and searched I bought the BlueSea SafetyHUB 150.
After spending a good amount of time looking for a piece of scrap metal to mount everything... I was able to dry mount everything to see how it would look.

Plug and play and I'm done.

So now what.....i will get myself a battery box to replace that factory hold down and the plastic tray under the battery.
But that will be later on.

I will do a better write up on TTORA later on.... but for now I want to hang and toss back a brew. :)

edit: Forgot to mention that this is mounted ONTOP of the factory fuse box.

Looks great! I have the SafetyHub 150 as well and I really like it! I picked up the same relay box, but have not mounted it yet. Was it difficult to wire?

It's amazing how expensive it is to do it right, isn't it?

Not hard to mount or wire.... Just took time to figure out location and length of wire.
I wired the relay box' terminals that mount into the box first.
Then thread the bare end to where I wanted and then trim and terminated.
That way the wire is not too long.
I left enough length so I could dismount the box without unscrewing everything.

As for $$$... yep... so shopping around is important.
For the BlueSea stuff, i found Amazon being the cheapest at the time.
For most of the wiring stuff, i used Del-City

Tejas,

You have any pictures of how it is mounted, id like a little more detail on that seeing as thats where i am looking at adding a blue sea fusebox aswell. Thanks!

Basically, I directly bolted the aluminum plate onto the factory's fuse box cover.
I just had to make sure the nut/bolt did not interfere with the extra fuses on the cover and did not hit any of the relays in the factory box.

As for the Blue Sea box... I had scrap metal SS bracket from an old engineering project that I was working over a decade ago... yep I am a hoarder of some things. :)
It happened to be just the right spacing and height.
You could find either square bar or alum or plastic and use them as spacers.
I have not yet organized my photos or the write up... once I find the pics I will post a link here.

nice and clean, i like it!

might want to put some corrugated on that one exposed loop of 1/0, just to be extra spiffy and cautious.

Great work, since you were so close to the battery ground why not hit that instead.

The ground was hooked at the factory location, but... It just looked unorganized.
Just one of the reasons to change.

Thanks... I also just purchase a few more items.

Battery Terminal Boots that will fit a Military Clamps
I bought the oval, because of the two cables running off the positive side.

Bus-Bar for my non-critical power feeds - LED rock lights, Hood light, etc.
I bought the 20 connecter version that uses push-on tabs for under the hood and a 10 connector version for the inside (Stereo receiver, CB, radar, etc.).

All were from VTE Warehouse.

Note there is a $15 minimum order and the prices are really good for those bus-bars.

Great install. I have been wondering what those Hella relay boxes look like on the underside and how they are wired.

Those Hella Rely boxes (and they have similar built fuse boxes)... are easy to insert the terminals and to remove, make sure you have a real small/skinny flat blade screwdriver.
The Terminals are the 1/4 versions with a retention clip on the back side. (see pic).

They are extremely hard to find that same version.
They are imported for Hella for their kit.
So far I have found only BuyWiring.com has the same one.
There are others... but still different.

Alright the bussbar, military terminal boot-isolator arrived and I mounted my hood light.

The bussbar will be installed next weekend... spent the majority of this weekend on taxes... oh yeah....

VTE Bussbar at the location I plan to mount.

The wires from my LED Rock lights that will be terminated there.

Military Terminal boot-isolator cover mounted... no more shorts... i hope. :)
IMG_3488.jpg

Cut a slit at one end and zip tied it to the terminal.
Loose enough to slip off to do work if needed.
IMG_3489.jpg

Under the hood light.. used the same brackets I bought for my LED Lights.

Wiring

Plunger switch to activate the light... existing hole.
Had to remove paint to the raw metal and then used dielectric grease to ensure it grounds well and lesser chance of rust forming there.
