100 series steel wheel group buy

I've contacted all of the major US steel wheel companies about building some steel wheels for the 100 series. The bolt pattern is an issue! I asked for 16x8s with 4" backspacing. www.trudesignwheel.net came back with a quote for 107.20 unfinished. Powder coating costs $25 more per wheel. If anyone is interested send me a PM and I'll hook you up with the guy I'm working with. I'm thinking they will only do them at this price for a short time period. Exiled/60seriesguy/Henry C. and I combined for a total order of 13 wheels to get this price. They will be available in the D window or Modular style. If you look at their beadlock page you can see the wheels with the beadlocks installed. This price is without beadlocks.

I do have a question on this though, is the 100 series 16x8 stock wheel really 4.6" backspacing? That is what I calculated it with. I don't have one yet, so I can't measure it.

In the thread on Mud I was asked about lugnuts. The Tundra steel wheel lugnuts will work with these wheels. They are a 14x1.5mm. Early and other 6 lug toys use 12.1.5 so they will not work.

I believe they've (LCs) all been 0 offset which would put an 8" wheel at 4" + a little for the flange? (but that shouldn't account for 0.6"...)

I would however be interested in 6.5" or 7" wide with 3.25" or 3.5" backspacing, respectively. I am trying to lessen the width of my tires, not keep them the same.

Do you have any example pictures of what they'd look like?

I would totally be interested.. however im concerned with adding more weight to my already heavy rig. I just don't need to do it. Rotating weight is a killer for me.. especially since im already getting 10-11mpg. I need to save weight wherever i can. Sucks, cause i totally dig the steel wheel look on a cruiser. Good luck with your group buy and post up the finished result!

I used to live up the street from Tru Design. Nice guys, highly recommended. I had them true some wheels for me that would not balance for anything. They know a lot about Toyota and lug-centric wheels in general.

A zero offset 8" wheel would be 4.5" backspace. The stock wheels on a Toyota IFS mini truck are +12mm offset on 7" wheels and end up at about 4.5" backspace IIRC. So I think you are correct that the IFS Cruiser rim is probably a zero offset, since the backspacing would match IFS suspensions on other trucks. Rim width is different than wheel centerline. Offset is measured relative to the wheel's centerline, which is the measure from the outside lip flange to the inside flange of the rim. Rim width is measure on the inside, where the tire rim seats. That's why an 8" rim with zero offset is not 4" backspace.

The 16" OEM wheels are J16x8JJ60 with the +60 designating the offset in mm (2-3/8" as mentioned by others) and "positive" indicating the lug nut face of the wheel is moved out from the center of the wheel (away from the hub as opposed to toward the hub).

Backspacing on stock 100 wheel is 6 15/16" as measured from a straight edge on the back of the rim to the mounting surface.

That would be +60mm of offset on ~120mm center line wheel. Wow.
