Bit of an update. Haven't done a great deal on the ol girl of late. Service wise was oil and filters. I also had the transmission serviced. Pan off new filter and fluid flush and replace. The bands were tightened also. It changes a lot crisper with less flair between gears.

I did tidy the rear draw area. Added a fire extinguisher to the drop slide

I still need to sort the rear cargo barrier out. I've got plans and materials to box in the fridge with a divider frame and top shelf. Just need to find the time...

A few work trips have gotten me out and about with time to explore.

I invested in a 'touring set' of Solarscreens. These are a quilted insulated window covering that sticks onto the windows via suction cups.

It gets over 40 degrees C here in summer (105F). The Aussie sun isn't too friendly either. I bought these before our Easter trip and noticed a huge improvement in inside cabin temperatures.

They are tailor made for the 100 and fit the windows perfectly. The Touring set includes rear doors, rear cargo windows and rear glass.

I haven't taken definitive before and after in cabin temp readings but with the rear air conditioning running we noticed we're only using the fan on low to keep the cabin cool where previously the fans would be on High to maintain a comfortable temp during the hot day.

I continued the modifications to the 100 by upgrading the exhaust. I opted for a straight through 3" system from a company in Queensland called Beaudesert.

They use a 4" dump pipe, into a 3" system with a flex joint, straight through muffler and hotdog style resonator.

The dump section is huge compared to the standard with a free flowing design.

I opted for the aluminised steel version as opposed to stainless due to cost. At $900 difference I just didn't see the advantage of going stainless in this build.

Install was straight forward with everything needed in the box including hardware and gaskets. The hardest part was getting the old system off. It look about 4 hrs in total.

The results are good. The new system is no louder than the standard system yet it does have a deeper note and turbo whistle on boost.

The engine seems to come onto boost a lot sooner and feels like it holds boost longer under load. Time will tell if I've gained an increase in economy yet drivability has definitely improved.

Looking forward to hitting the open road to see how it performs at highway speeds.

Today was new hoop day.

With winter just a few weeks away it was time to update tires. Two of the Bridgestone 697 Tires were down to wear indicators and the other had only about 20% tread left.

I shortlisted three potential replacements. BFG KO2, Kumho MT51 and the Toyo RT. After reading review after review, talking to guys who have them fitted and listening to their thoughts I opted for the Toyo offering.

I went with the 285/70 x 17 (33”x11.5”x17”) fitted up to the standard 17” Sahara alloys that come on the Kakadu model here in Australia.

Aesthetically they look great. Not over the top aggressive yet look fit for purpose. I like the idea of the hybrid tire, between an AT and MT. We tend to tour through areas with gravel, sand, rock and shale. Terrain the RT was designed for.

My last vehicle had Goodyear Duratracs that performed perfect in these areas. Time will tell how these new offerings hold up and perform.

WOW! That's a lot of snow! Looks like you received a meter or so? I never knew that you received that much snow. Where were these photos taken? Did you take any video of getting out once you were able to actually get into your HDJ100? This is really cool! I'm enjoying your build, really good stuff.

Hey mate thanks for the comments.

We’re at Falls Creek in Victoria Australia. Yeah those pics were at about 1m coverage. We’re getting close to 2m now 6 weeks into the winter.

I’ve actually got to go dig the car out again this week as there is another half a meter forecast over the coming weekend.
I don’t really have any video of getting her out. Usually after an hour or so of digging I’m pretty over the experience

I’ve got the next round of mods planned to rollout as soon as we finish this winter season. Plenty more on the cards.

Still yet to continue with the mods but have done a couple camping trips since being home. Always take the option to head away even if it’s only for a few days...

Took the big LC out for a run down the coast today. We’ve had a few days of rain so I couldn’t wait to get out of the house...

Came across a nice cave just off the beach

c20061462b27343d2f18dff06c453bc0.jpg

Then we crossed into the forest where we pulled up for lunch. Sushi, Ramen and an ice cold Asahi among the trees was just what the doctor ordered...

It’s been a fair while since I updated this thread. Oops...

I’ve had all sorts of dramas with Tapatalk I gave up for a while.

I’ll use this as a test post to see if it’s resolved now.
