If you build a flatbed this is what I do if roughing it a queen air mattress can fit well add a tarp between a rear loop and headache rack makes you a quick and comfortable camp,
It might even be worth having a proper canvas cover with spreaders and a window for a vent there are a lot of possibility's.How about a RTT that is above a short bed at ~rooftop height?if you plan it from the beginning it could be really cool.

Still kicking around ideas with the wife as what we will need.

The biggest issues are room for the kids as well as room for stuff but be able to handle the rocky trails.
Their are alot of possibilities and that also makes choices an issue. LOL We looked into RTT and they seem too small for are fam. Main reason being 2 boys 11 and 12 that hate the other bother in their space. If you understand that. :sport_box WOW I could swear those smilies are my boys!
We have also kicked around the idea of buying/building a camper and mounting it to the frame with some kinda set up but of coarse their is always pros and cons to all choices.

ok soooo BIG UPDATE and change in direction.

Some how I traded that big'o flatbed for a 8 foot pop up camper. I didn't see that coming. LOL Before I start going crazy with questions lets take a look at the new to me pop up shall we.

On to things that need fixed and some questions for you all.

This is the only original one the rest are thin nylon pieces cut too big. Not sure why the po did this but it doesn't work when they won't even fit in the rails.

Can I buy these somewhere or should I just make some new ones? Another idea I've been kicking around is could some kind of roller be used instead?

I've been working on building my riser for my camper. Holy Cow now that I look back it's taken me since last march to get this far GEEZZ! But it is good to see progress.
(Just an fyi for everyone my build will always be kinda slow. I have MS and auto work is one of the last things I keep trying to do as it helps me remember what I use to love.)

Now on to so happier stuff.

You know, I don’t believe in anything Ford but anybody can appreciate an old highboy, even a GM/Dodge/Toyota guy. Very cool truck Trav ( and eggman too)!. It is nice to see people keeping old iron on the road regardless what brand it is. That’s going to be a really neat rig when you’re done

I had a '75 F250 highboy with a transplanted 460 in it. Incredible towing and 4x4 truck. I had the 17" farmer/pizza cutters on it and would regularly tug out clowns who ran the huge mud tires. They would loudly proclaim I would get stuck but had to shut up when I relentlessly pulled them out of mud holes in low gear. I would mention, "boy, you haven't watched very many WWII documentaries have you? All those trucks had skinny tires on them and they still go through with only 80 horsepower!"

Jacks weren't high enough so this was my solution.
Just slapped on the H1 rims. LOL

Bet you all are thinking hey the campers not level with the truck.
I got that figured out and its going to be cool!
