1991 Mitsubishi Delica Diesel 4x4 Van
High Top Super Exceed L300‏ Delica (Deluxe Camping Edition)
An extremely clean and low-miles example of the reliable and fuel-efficient Delica. It has been impeccably maintained and legally imported into the US. Everything works, it runs strong with no rust. 109k miles.

If you don’t know about these vans they are amazing. Their reliability, robustness, simplicity, and parts availability make them great for longer expeditions and adventures. People literally take them around the world, for instance: (this isn’t mine but similar example): http://dinoevo.de/

It has 5 sunroofs!! The 4 in the back have motorized shades that you can operate from the front or the back. It is camperized from the factory with OEM curtains, OEM mini fridge/oven box, and the seats can turn into a bed, which is only one of a dozen different configurations. Power windows, locks, steering, etc., OEM altitude meter and inclinometer, lots of fog lights and axillary lights, OEM bush bar, automatic transmission with overdrive, dual zone A/C controls for both front and rear. Custom mahogany steering wheel. Full-sized matching alloy spare tire. Seats 7 passengers. Two swiveling captain's chairs and full folding rear bench seat. A couple of minor blemishes on the body, nothing major: overall excellent condition for its age. Remarkably it also has a stock karaoke machine in the back! HID projection headlights. LED interior so doesn’t draw lots of power. “Crystal lite roof” with power sunshades, alloys rims, Audio Stage sound system with rear control/karaoke unit and extra rear speakers, It has a throttle lock knob that, by design, functions as cruise control. Aftermarket higher-end Sony stereo head-unity with USB and headphone Jack. Some the speakers are also high-end aftermarket.
This vehicle was legally imported from a registered broker. This is a RHD/JDM vehicle from Japan. It has all the proper importation documentation and currently has a clean Oregon title and is located in Los Angeles CA. I am happy to deliver anywhere in the US for fee.

Full maintenance performed all fluids/filters replaced. All synthetic fluids used including on transmission. A few years again it got a new head casket (OEM parts used), new aluminum radiator, new accessory belts, water pump, timing belts and tensioners. It has newish tires. 'Winter' model with dual battery. Both are new on warranty and have around 1000 cold cranking amps each!! Starts like a dream without a puff of smoke. New rear brake shoes, new axle seals, all new belts, new tie rod and ball joint, recent wheel alignment. New glow plugs.

Now that Delicas are getting a larger cult following over here there are many parts suppliers in North America.

No speed demon but can cruise on the highway at 70mph all day. But there is lots of low-end grunt.

With the 4x4, 2-speed hi/low transfer-case, incredible approach/departure angles, limited slip differential, and large aggressive tires, these vans have pretty good off-road capability. However, they are also small and smooth enough to function perfectly as a daily driver.

Arguably this is the most reliable Delica of them all. The simple diesel engine is commonly used as a base for bio-diesel/veggie oil conversion. Has the venerable 4D56T 2.5L turbo diesel, which is very popular globally; it was the engine used in the Pajero, where it dominated the Dakar.

Being a diesel it gets great fuel economy. If you dive very slowly it gets near 30mpg, but more like 25mpg when you drive at regular speed. Diesel is super cheap now too!

Huge interior space (for instance, you can fit 4’x’8 plywood in the back). However, unlike a Mercedes Sprinter van, it has the footprint of a regular car and you can fit in most underground parking lots. With the curtains it is also great for “urban stealth camping.” It is the ultimate road-trip van.

Why buy a VW Syncro Vanagon for $50k when you can get this, and you don’t have to restore and re-engineer it. As is, it will be infinitely more reliable and has much more readily available parts for a fraction of the price of a VW van.

$16850
