Location: Monroe, GA (Outside Atlanta)

1996 Ford E-350 4x4 Diesel Ambulance for sale with 258k miles. Engine is the 7.3 PowerStroke with a Quigley 4x4 conversion using coil springs, control arms and a Dana 60 front axle, has factor Dana 60 rear axle. Mechanicals have been maintained, I bought it with ~243k miles and have had other 7.3 PowerStrokes and am familiar with them.

GENERAL CONDITION: Runs and drives fine, I drove it from San Diego, CA to Atlanta, GA in September 2016 with no issues. That said, its 21 years old, has rust and has 258k miles. I have taken my (now) wife and young daughter on 1000+ mile Baja trips for 2014 and 2015 Christmas seasons including the northern (hard) offroad way to Scorpion Bay. I’ve also done Mojave Road, Coyote Canyon, backway into Big Bear CA, back way into Joshua Tree and other offroad trails. If it fits, it goes. It drives like a 10k pound (I weighed it) brick with so-so suspension, it has normal (bad) Ford steering (wanders) and normal (bad) Quigley suspension travel and normal (bad) Quigley body roll, that said, I drive it now and would drive it cross country if I wanted to. Clean California title and registration in my name.

HISTORY: I purchased this March 2014 on ebay with ~243k milesfrom a reseller in Michigan that I assume bought it from an auction from the ambulance company as he was reseller of commercial vehicles and had two for sale. I used it for camping in baja but am now married and it is too small for 3 people with 4 dogs.

MAINTENANCE:
- Oil Changes every 3k since I bought it, last oil change was at 256k.
- One new brake caliper on the way home from buying it, so March 2014.
- Transmission oil, front and rear diff oil at 246k DEC 2014
- Complete new front driveshaft 246k DEC 2014
- Tires: Didn’t record it but must have been Dec 2015 and I’m guessing ~10k miles ago. Bought 5 new with new rims at that time. 35” on 16” rims, E rated for carrying all the weight.
- Fuel Filter & two new batteries at in SEP 2016 at 256k.
- Front Brake pads FEB 2017 at 257k.

GOOD:
- I made a front and rear bumper with 2” trailer hitches. Has a brake controller and trailer lights but neither work, I had visions of towing a travel trailer and that didn’t happen. If you tow more than 3500 pounds, you should unbolt my rear bumper and do better welding and bracing.
- Seats 4 with 3pt seat belts. Two up front, one sort of in the hallway up front that folds flat so you can go from front to back without getting out and one rear facing 3pt seat that also folds flat.
- 10-11mpg. I think that is good for 35” Tires and the power it has and 10k pounds and a brick aerodynamics.
- 7.3 PowerStroke: Runs great, haven’t done much other than normal maintenance. Unmolested, no chip, no modifications, no nothing other than maintenance. Starts cold, no issues.
- Interior: We modified it to add 3pt seatbelts for our daughter but left it more or less stock. More to do if you want to or not. We put a cot up front for daughter to sleep across the front seats and we slept on floor with thermorests. No good spot for the spare tire, I was going to have it on a swingaway carrier in the back bumper but didn’t get around to it.
- Fun rig, everyone likes it and is impressed with how well it does offroad. Lots of strangers come up and talk to you.

BAD:
- Rust: hard to quantify, there is “light” rust on frame but I don’t think its bad. The rust on the cab is worse, the front under the grill is bad, the part on the rockers is so-so.
- I hesitate to write this as its not doing it now, but at times, when cold, the rig slips in reverse if trying to backup a steep incline. Once warmed up, its fine. I’ve had this when moving the rig at my old house that had a hill. Once warmed up, this has never popped up but I don’t like surprises and want to be transparent. I would trust the transmission to go cross country and back tomorrow, but who knows.
- Dirty: I never tried to clean it and with lots of baja, its dirty. Engine also dirty, don’t expect a clean rig, this thing has been used and put away wet so to speak. Maintained, but used.
