TKSC01 nice looking Excursion. A couple questions, who's bumper and what size tires are you running?

Bumper

It is a TJM I bought it used off Craigslist, the gentleman I bought it from also had 4 Humvee tires that I bought as well so the tires in the pic are military 37s which is what I am going to run.

Thanks TKSC01 are you running a lift to fit those tires? I have been thinking of a rough country 4" lift kit with all springs for 99-04 F250/F350. this would gain me about 6" on the Excursion.

Lift

In truth I haven't given a lift much thought. I swapped in "X" code springs when I put the Dana 60 in it hoping I would have a winch bumper on the truck. So it took the front up a few but the back is sagging. ONce I mount the tires I am thinking about trimming the fenders.

I'm glad I found this thread. Some good info. My Ex is a 2000 with a 7.3l. Sad to say that it's been parked for a number of years. It will get dragged out in the next month and put back on the road. I've had people badger me about buying it to the point of me getting angry. It's got about 170k miles. I think a trans rebuild is in my hopefully not too near future.

Superlift if you wanna stay cheap. But BDS, ICON, Carli will have better stuff than Rough Ride Country.

Expedition Support Vehicle?

2 Jeeps and a Yamaha Super Tenere from NC to Moab for a week of 'wheeling and back to NC. No problems. Even a day of wheeling on the Ex when Dad got some crap in his eye on the bike and needed an alternate vehicle!

If you swap a Dana 60 from a dually, are the hub face to hub face measurements the same? If not, how do you change it what was on the excursion?

Why bother. There's nothing wrong with the Dana50 solid axle. (not to be confused with the rubbish dana50 IFS) It's a Dana60 with Dana44 guts. Plenty for light wheeln.

Dana 60

I took the Dually hubs off and essentially it is a regular Dana 60. The spring perches are the same and I upgraded the hubs to Yukon Hardcore hubs through DIFFS ONLY huge difference. The Dana 50 has axle shafts that neck down close to the ring and tend to break. The Excursion is a heavy rig so load it down with supplies bigger tires and the right four wheeling situation and that axle is toast. I broke mine last winter in the snow coming home from work!

You can take as much "stuff" as you could want..

Mine has the V-10 and I've since added a cheap 2.5" lift (spring pack/blocks) and Bilstein 5100 in the front 4600 in the rear and warn hubs... I went from 265/75/16 to 295/75/16 and my mileage has gone from 13.0 to 12.9.

oh.. and it rides much, much better.

Quick Update

's been a while since I updated the truck so here ya go. Hope you like it. I added a 12,000lbs Warn winch and 8 offroad lights. Also a 200psi compressor and 5 gal tank, which I am thinking of removing and upgrading to 12 gal tank. Front close up.jpgFront with lights.jpgfront back a little.jpg
