2001 8.1l Suburban Build!

This is my 01 2500 Suburban with the 8.1l. 4x4 of course and loaded it is our familys heavy hauler. We have horses and I also seem to move vehicles all the time. I have had this for 7 months now and have since put 15k on it. Going to Ohio from Cali, and looping down to GA the across through TX. That was a fun trip.......only 9 days long. Anyways I spend a lot of time in her but also want a good off-road capability/reliability. This means a solid axle swap. And this isn't my first nor my first for this gen chevy. But this will be the lowest lift possible. I am going to shoot for 3-4in of lift (outside of tire size lift, that size will be figured once the lift is done). Also I am building a roof rack that will be able to hold 5 bales of hay when needed. I have already made a rear carrier for water and fuel which seems to be holding up well.

Anyways here are some pictures!

Oh don't mind the winch bumper yet. Its far from done, I just had to stop due to a large wild fire near our house.

Looks like its going to be a nice beast. Is that bedliner on the rocker panels / flares? coating the bumper in same?

Yes that is bedliner on the bottom and I probably won't coat everything else in it because it likes to hold the mud. I have contemplated taking off the exsiting bed liner.

And Thanks!

Nice Burb! I contemplated the SAS but decided to beef up tie rods first the idler and pitman when needing to. Good luck with the swap and keep us posted.

I'm getting old and hard to see from pic but are those the new style 2015+ two row LED chevy side mirrors? Any issues fitting or wiring? I plan to do just that on my '97 Suburban HD build at some point.

Best of Luck,

Mike

Yes the mirrors are the newest style but made to mount properly on the sub. The mirrors have 2 connectors, one for the power and heat which plugs in and fhe other for all the lights which you have to wire yourself
