2001 Gen III alarm going crazy

Guys,
My wife's 2001 Gen III alarm is going crazy. Set the alarm with the remote or by locking the doors and wake up at 3:00am with the alarm going off screaming with a vengeance, man it is loud!!!

What could be causing this tantrum? I hate to leave it unlocked at the mall or wherever we go.

I had this problem on my Hyundai. I checked google and found that the sensor for the hood sends a false signal indicating the hood is loose or open (I guess like someone opened your hood) so the alarm goes off. So you may have a door sensor that is broken. Some people have said that it is related to the car cooling off and that is why it goes off at night.

For me it was the door sensors - check to see if those pins that depress when you close the door (the same one that governs the interior lights) are depressed fine. For me it was that the rubber cover had gotten loose, and it was no longer pressing it down enough.
