Here is the perfect vehicle for Washington! You may be saying to yourself, “What the heck is a Mitsubishi Montero… Sport”? Allow me to enlighten you.
Little brother to the popular full-sized Montero (AKA “Pajero” outside the US), the Montero Sport is a mid-sized SUV with the chops to off-road, overland, handle snow, and anything else you can throw at it. Featuring rear coil-springs, this Montero Sport doesn’t sacrifice on-road comfort for off-road performance. Unlike most other SUVs and pickups, the Montero Sport has both AWD and 4x4 (HI and LOW). This allow you to maintain traction with AWD while driving through Washington’s wintery, snow-filled roads, while also being able to off-road all day long with high-clearance and 4HI/4LOW.
Let’s get into some specifics for what I refer to as Max, my very own Sport.
Max has the 3.0L V6 and the ES package. About 165K miles on it.
Within the last month, Ray and Roy’s Spokane auto shop replaced the following components:

- Camshaft position sensor
- Timing belt and component kit
- Water pump
- All belts
- Radiator
- Alternator
- Spark plugs
- Spark plug wires
- Oil change
- Balanced tires and wheels (at local shop)
- Gnarly decals (all on glass for easier removal)
- A sick, brand-new dash mat
- Windshield-mounted phone mount
- Custom-sized rubber cargo mat
- Not one but TWO sets of floor mats!
- U-Haul tow hitch
- Cargo area privacy cover
- Nifty circular lights in the front grill (super functional)
- Integrated roof rails
- Custom Raceline rims
- AWESOME fender flares (great for off-road use)
- Front rotors seem warped. Could use a machining or replacement.
