2008 FJ

There's nothing misleading about it at all. Jumping the trucks is not a requirement to develop this issue. It's no more relevant than what color shirt the drivers prefer to wear.

Zero trampoline time is necessary to encounter that issue.

Meanwhile there's no shortage of people trying for olympic medals in gymnastics with their FJ and having no signs of the issue.

Hmmmm
Every thread I read about this was the result of jumping.

'Check around the motor mounts... The frame is known to fail there..'

This is a misleading comment. Check the FJ forums for the real scoop. Jumping FJ's is closer to the truth as to why it might happen.

And jade helm was gonna be the start of martial law all over the us, says the same internet =)

I've personally laid my hands on three trucks that encountered the frame failure, not one of them having ever been jumped.

The issue is identical to what a run of tacomas had happen as well. Toyota has even offered the same tsb/repair option from the taco issue to at least one fj owner im aware of. (After a lot of string pulling.)

If the guy says he jumped his truck and this is the result, all you can do is believe the guy. So from just normal everyday driving, these mounts are failing? Hard to believe. Here is always more to the story.

With some off-road driving they are failing... Why is this so hard to believe? Toyota trucks aren't the bulletproof unicorns made of pixie dust they once were to some people. Many people are seeing the 1GR-FE engine in these trucks fail catastrophically as well. Thoreau and I do the majority of our wheeling together, and it's safe to say neither of us have jumped our trucks... A few twisty hill climbs here and there, corrugated roads, but no jumping.

Haha ok. You go sniff your magic pixy dust. Once again not the results from my truck or all the forums I frequent.

Forums are always gospel compared to personal experience, got it... These trucks have fender tear issues from being street driven, why is it so hard to believe that the frame can fail? What year is your truck?

First of all crazy, you're not going to demand anything from me :). So no got its. You're not my boss and you're not my superior in the military.

Once again, I'm willing to bet there is more to the story than is being told. There always is. I'm well aware of the fender tear issue 07- 09. Well aware. Individual such as yourself and a few others on this forum try and act as if it's every single truck made. When it's not. A frame is not just going to fail driving on road and light off road duty. To not going to. No matter how many times you cry it does.
I have an 05 4Runner. Not sure why you want to know.

There are a few on here that just troll Toyota threads and whine and cry about how they suck and whatever. It gets really old. If you're having so many issues with your truck, get rid of it and get something else. But it won't for whatever reason

This is the last time I'm responding to you or this thread. I refuse to derail it anymore than it already is.

To the op. Get the truck. As was stated above, you can't believe everything you read on the Internet. That goes for the grumps that troll threads and demand they are right and everyone else is wrong. Have a wonderful day.

Where have I demanded anything from you? And I've yet to resort to name calling as you have.

A frame isn't going to fail driving down the road? Numerous Tacoma frames crumbled to dust... Driving down the road. The location of the motor mount horns on the frame is poor at best, failure could happen at any point. Driving over speed bumps too fast and frequently would probably put undue stress on the frame, causing them to buckle...

I was curious about the year of your truck since you said it wasn't your personal experience with your vehicle, that's why...

I'm not saying I'm right, but you won't accept that it's reasonable for someone looking to purchase one of these trucks to look at the motor mounts.

Hey that's cool I respect the last part there. You did demand buy says "got it". ;). Once again with Tacoma frames crumbling is more to the story and its few of them that did it. It's from road salt and domestic vehicles rust as well. FYI.

The "got it" was sarcasm.

If you spend as much time as you claim and know everything, you would have seen all three cases I've referenced. Theyve been on blue room, facebook, azfj, and others.

You are welcome to research and recant your "more to the story" accusation, but I don't predict the time being spent.

Denial or lack of exposure to the issue dont make it go away.

Wait what did you say? Can't believe everything on the Internet right? So we must trust you as a source, but sources I've read can't be trusted? You're a silly man. Facebook is a trusted site ;) oh I've spent lots of time reading and vast majority vast majority like 95% were results of very hard wheeling and or jumping. So mister that knows all.

Well, allow me squeeze in here for a second.

I've owned a 07 FJ since DEC06. It's done so many big named trails from the Rubicon to Tellico (when that used to be open) and everything in-between. Its been my daily driver, and wheeled very hard. It was originally built for tough rock crawling but also to drive across country to get to these trails, but now that I find overloading my new passion, I've rebuilt it for that.

No rust, no frame failures, no inner fender apron tears, no axle problems (and I'm not even running the 29 spline pinion in the rear, but the older 27).

But with all that said, every company makes some bad eggs, every company. And I would still tell you to shoot for a 10+ due to the use of the prado 150 frame over the 120 in 2007-2009, and the 8.2 rear axle vs the older 8" (its not a big improvement, but and improvement none the less).

For resale, I would say an FJ is a great buy right now. The prices have gone up from what I have seen. If you make this your weekend car, and keep the junk miles off of it, you will be golden. If the sales guy is truly your friend, hopefully, he can hook you up, and you can buy him some cold beer later. If it wasn't for the MPG, I would get one for my wife, but I can't justify it with two other trucks in the driveway.
