The reality of all this is: We aren't Toyota's target market/audience. If we were we've be able to purchase 78, 105, et al series stateside. We just don't comprise a large enough (or so Toyota has proven to themselves) market to warranty being offered these types of rigs.

It just plain sucks for those of us that do want/need them!

Well said - can anyone point out 'where' Toyota's 'target market' actually is these days....................  :( :(

I'd love a new 79 series flatdeck, with the 'High Country' option pack, but gee - 15k more than a Hilux here.........

Actually, the more I think about, the more I reckon I'll go this way on my next vehicle, as a Lux has 5 yr lifespan worked hard - Cruiser is a easy 10 yr vehicle........

Now I understand why you had to leave your local cruiser Club......

No, you don't. You have no idea whatsoever why I left my local club. I got along with all the guys in the club.

PS- No I don't hold your views against you, and I work 90+ hrs a week so yes I have a lot of bad days lol

Welcome back... sorry about the long hours but it is always nice to have paychecks. :victory:

I too have had to work some very long hours. Because of work, I recently had to cancel attendance of an Expo trip where I was to be the group leader. Having to drop out really sucked.

Even though work gets frustrating I look to Expo to be a refuge, a place to forget about work and cyber-hang out with like minded people. Maybe not all are like-minded (see global "warming" threads, GRIN) but we agreed to disagree without ever resorting to name calling. Regardless, Expo is a place to escape and I leave my work frustrations and bad days behind.

regards,

Jim

I'm probably one of the few that hope the FJC dies. It would be cool if the 4Runner continued to get more of the "offroad" options that the FJC has enjoyed. Not trying to flame the FJC, I just think the 4Runner makes more sense as it has proper doors and visibility.

I almost want to agree with this... Almost. While I love the looks and lines of the FJC, when I went to check them out when they first came out I was actually considering buying one. After climbing around in one and sitting in the drivers seat, I hated it. It did not have the room I needed and the visibility I found to be horrendous. That could be because I was so used to the Trooper which had more glass than the Sears Tower, I don't know. However, I don't want to see the demise of the FJC, I still gawk when I see one, but it just does not work for me. Now, if they build the 4Runner with the FJC front end as shown in the SEMA thread (different color though) with a couple of the FJC "offroad" options available, that would be ideal. Thats just my thoughts though.

Now discuss.

I really feel that the FJ-Runner would be a great middle of the road vehicle. It has the sporty retro look of the FJC with real back seat, cargo area and visibility of the 4Runner. I'm hoping the FJC morphs somewhere into that but it sounds like the platform change of the 4Runner likely won't include an added vehicle to the lineup.

I'm surprise that some people find the FJRunner appealing. Of course the only 4Runner I really like was the Gen1.
I for one would like to see Toyota come out the FJT

Oh man I hope they never make that thing. Yeah, its cool looking, but in my opinion is useless. Looks like less interior room, little exterior cargo room. If Toyota actually offers that in the US versus something like a 7x Series Land Cruiser I will be very disappointed. A diesel 4 Runner would, however, be very nice.

The 'convertible' FJ is already being sold in Japan apparently, but will not be coming to the US.

Personally its not for me, but the cool thing on that one was that it was an electric hard-top that folded down so when up it still maintained the original FJC look.

Toyota showed the "SE" version of the FJ Cruiser at SEMA. The Special Edition is better equipped for off-road use.

I like the look but would prefer traditional white roof & grill. plus replace tupperware bumpers with a set of AllPro's

There will be a 4Runner offered with the VSC off as well as the E-locker.

Not sure if it was said here yet or not but the OP asked about air intake..

The FJC uses the same engine and tranny as the tacoma, frame is the Prado.
That is why the supercharger and CA intake is the same as the Tacoma.

Hope that helps..

Also It has been documented by Toyota USA that 2010 is the last year for the FJ Cruiser...But hey today Premium at Costco is 1.59...How sweet is that!!!!!

Yep the 4runner for 2009 has the atrac and reaer locker.. But approach and exit will be a bit less beneficial then the FJC.
