Well 6hr of work, and I have a start on the rear cargo area. Ps its takes me long as I am an ocd finish carpenter. I also custom made a cooler thst fits under the self too. But have plans for a pull out kitchen in the back.

Very nice! I've been looking at the back of my 2-dr with the backseats removed, thinking of doing something similar. All the manufactured ones are so pricey for what they are. Going to carpet or rubber mat the top, or leave it as is?

Carpet the top. I also made it fit under the rear tubs upper lip. This way the soft to and the hard top will fit with no changes. Some guys top them on top and inly use it in the summer, but I want ti have the extra space year round. We get about 8 months of winter....lol. only 4 to 5 months of soft top time. Boooo..

Any chance on getting some pics of the rear shelf solution showing a bit more detail? I've been trying to come up with one for my JKU, and this seems like a simple and well thought out solution. Is it easily removable when not required?

I was going to bolt it in but it works good this way and I can pop it out in about 2 minutes if I need. Also the cooler I made worked great and cost was under $60.00 and was just as good as a yeti cooler, also it fits perfectly under the back. (bear country so all food has to be safe) We left thursday am packed it up and had lots of ice monday night when we got home. Monday I still had frozen bacon.

Jeep owners make great parents, this was in the spring and it was cold out.
We didhave to back track a bit as the idea of throwing our mittens out of the door was fun...
