Ack! The Adventure begins when things go wrong.. It makes great story making, but when you're in it you just have to get through it. I have to say that I internally questioned your tire selection for this trip, but I like the 705's and a lot of folks do great with them.

Yeah, not the tire I would have chosen but, this was the KLR's last run and they were on it. The KLR is officially retired now and will become a conversational piece in the corner of the ATC design studio.

They even survived 6 hours of climbing up Imogene pass.....That was a real work!FFBFA2E3-AAA6-4B29-AE0B-95AE2755C138.jpeg416672B7-601B-4657-8136-A9A81E57472A.jpegE8A79A97-7D65-48C5-833F-9CBCC8488D80.jpeg756E04FE-B6A0-4E61-A9B9-584EBA39E26F.jpeg

FWIW......When you haven't had a flat tire in years and you think you have a front tube and a rear tube but, then realize for some dum reason you have two front tubes in your tire repair kit!

Your in the middle of no where so you put the front in the rear and Carry On.

(Note: it gets you out of the desert through some narly trails and washes but blows out the next morning on the road!)AB9EF040-E1C8-4AB1-85B5-406D76D7D772.jpeg78C48798-E818-4315-8FCE-7E40711382F6.jpegB4CD94C7-7C04-4BDC-90D8-E3ED822253EF.jpeg2865905E-1299-437F-8462-82FEF42891E2.jpeg2769534E-C293-4687-A41E-F79B272ECF52.jpegBA20ECEF-EDCC-46C4-8441-E75DB929EE48.jpegEFF7A7C7-E916-4708-BAB6-B719DA27263B.jpeg

Well it's happenin.......After 20 years and this last adventure ride my old KLR650 is offically retired. Tuesday morning I'm renting a 2023 Yamaha Tenere T700 for the day to test ride and start my data gathering on my next ATC Adventure bike. While I will miss my old friend I'm looking forward to seeing what is out there in the mid-weight adventure bike world!

I know how hard it is to move on from a KLR. You never know what you're missing when you have a KLR and it's a great bike, but you are probably going to love the T7. I miss my KLR and often think about getting another one, but after having a taste of a more powerful and better braking bike I just can't go back at this time.

Congrats! I can't wait to see how you like it and what you do with it.

Thanks! I appreciate your thoughts and shared experience. I'm going to hang onto the ole KLR as a shop bourbon bar and conversation piece for the foreseeable future. Just got to get the insulation and wall paneling up so I can have a more permanent corner for it. Cheers.
