270 Degree Awnings?

Howdy All,
I'm new to the forum and I have a question for the masses. I am in the process of looking for a 270 degree awning for my rig('00 4Runner)...I really like the Rhino Foxwing, but at 98" the end will stick out pretty damn far in front of my roof. The Eezi Batwing is only 84" which is a lot more feasible, but at $1300 the price isn't. So, my question - Is there an alternative out the with similar construction and size to either that is shorter than 85" and won't break my wallet??

Thanks!!

Build your own to the specs you need...all they are, metal poles and canvas.
You can find heavyduty sewing machines on eBay, craigslist, or your local paper. (we did)
Army Surplus stores sell heavy duty canvas...plenty of online venders where you can purchase
the material you need.

Then you taught yourself a new skill.

Thanks Corey, will do...

Kermit, I don't mind fab-work here and there...but I am not inclined toward purchasing the proper equipment and learning to sew adequately enough to do my own. I don't mind spending a few bucks to get what I want, but $1300 seems pretty excessive for an awning. I am just looking to see if there are other similar options out there at a better price-point.

Does anyone know what type of awning this is?jeep_awning.gif
It looks similar to the Rhino Foxwing...but a bit shorter in stature, which would be great for me.

He did the redo on that rig. There is a thread on the re-build on here somewhere...sorry running out the door. Will look later if you don't beat me to it.

He is a pretty darn good fabricator, he sewed that canvas for the poptop.

You're very welcome...(back from Home Depot :ylsmoke:)

Found the thread on it.

Or contact the owner "mhiscox"...I am glancing at the thread and I am not seeing a name brand for the Foxwing

I "think" it is by Rhino-Rack/OZTent...(at least zooming in on the picture trying to read the logo)

How is $650? Sounds better to me!

Yeah, after reviewing the the thread you posted it has a lot more pics of the awning and it does appear to be a Rhino Foxwing...but, it just doesn't look to be 98" long. Don't know, maybe that Jeep is longer than it looks. I measured out 98" on my 4Runner and from the back corner it was well out in front of the windshield. Oh well, if I can't find another option I may just have to make it work.

Pick up the phone...

Call Randy McCauley/OzTent USA direct at 877-673-6590. I understand the confusion with different information from multiple sources, but it does say Packed Size is 7' (L) right there on the OzTent USA website - http://us.oztent.com/products/ViewProduct.asp?ProductID=281...

Colours: Black Bag/Khaki Awning
Weight: 18 lbs.lbs
Packed Size: 7' (L) x 2".5(W) x 7"(H) Approx.
Size Erected: Spans Approximately 6' x 5" from the Vehicle in all directions.

I'd call the horse's mouth, in a manner of speaking.

Okay, I spoke with Randy McCauley...the website dimension listed of 7' is inaccurate the actual closed length is 98" long. So, the only shorter version I can find is the Eezi-Awn Bat...but at $1300 bucks a pop, they are not exactly affordable.
