Smart, high quality accessories make a big difference in your experience. I'm being careful, patient and methodical in choosing what I buy. This first gave me good ideas:

1. I'm a freak for organization, and I don't like loose bags and stuff anywhere. So I need to spend some more money in some inside molle panels to organize stuff.

2. The Goose Gear cabinetry is excellent and I can fit a lot of stuff, but I need to add a couple of boxes in the roof rack.

3. I picked up this mount for maxxtrax which will allow me to fit the Zarges boxes, in the limited space I have. For this I will need to add a loadbar in the current empty space, this will be the first DIY project.

4. The wife wants some sort of sink system. I want something very small and easy to store and put away.

5. We have a big water tank, but we should be drinking water that is filtered, so I will be picking one of these

Next trip will be longer and in June. May is busy with international travel and I might be able to fit and overnight at max.

Someone gave me this advice and I liked it, so I’ve been passing it along. Use the built in tank for rinsing and emergency drinking water only. It’s hard to judge the tank cleanliness from the outside, no matter how often you clean it or if you filter the water. We use our built in tank for dishes, showers, flushing, sometimes rinsing after teeth brushing. We carry a separate tank with filtered drinking water. If you have a trailer you leave parked, your drinking water is now mobile, it’s easier to fill up, clean, inspect and replace if needed. Scepter makes some smaller, 2.5 gallon tanks or buy a cheapo blue 6 gallon Walmart tank.

btw, nice build, just read through it and your buying process, lol. Been looking at replacing my GX460 with an HD truck for exploring and home projects and it was interesting to read through your process. I don’t think I have as much need for hauling and towing, so a PW is currently in the lead. I’ve made the rounds with sleeping arrangements as well with our two boys, from a tent, to a Lance truck camper, to now an off-road square drop camper with an RTT. Our square drop camper is by far my wife’s favorite and I think it hits most of our needs out of all the iterations we went through (no solution will ever be perfect). Biggest issue is that the GX460 is a complete dog at towing, even at ~3k lbs.

It’s been a good summer. We have gone down some knarly trails, and beautiful places. The AluCab + Diesel heater is an excellent combo. The ARB compressor + morflate takes about 8 minutes from 25 to 50 psi. Deflating the tires has been a game changer. The suspension is awesome, specially going fast on ************ but not super technical roads.

The next steps to embark on more challenging adventures are:

- Make sure the Baby can sleep through the night.

- Learn how to operate the whinch, in case of an issue.

Nice rig. How did you mount the rod vault? Looks like a RiverSmith? Also, did you considering mounting on a gear track, like where the awning is mounted, but on the opposite side?
