4 Days near Moab

As I sit here and type this in Evergreen, CO, the snow is coming down, and coming down hard. With over 2 feet of snow in the last couple days it seems like Moab and the flip flop wearing weather I just came from is far, far away. The plan was to load up Alexia's Land Rover with all the gear needed to camp out for 4 days and 3 nights in Utah's red rock country. At first we thought we'd bring mountain bikes and had big plans of things to do. From past experiences though I know its all too easy to plan too much and not fit it all in. We simplified the plan down to just exploring in the Rover, taking alot of pictures, and getting in some good quality leisure time at our camp sites. We buzzed out on Saturday morning and made the 5 hour trek over. The weather was great, mid to high 60's for the most part, sunny, and only in the 40's at night. We were well equipped with camping gear, provisions, and vehicle for the two of us and Madison the dog for 4 days of adventuring. As usual, enough words, I'll let the pictures talk

After topping up the fuel, filling the water tank, and getting some last minute provisions, we rolled out and up along the Gemini Bridges road where we'd be making camp along Bull Canyon in a place that I have camped before and really enjoy. It was well past dark and we fired up all 6 Hella 500's to really put a dent in the darkness of the desert.

After getting camp setup, Alex went to work making some incredible mango guacomole.

Camp packed up, ready to check out the Gemini Bridges.

MoabwithAlex054.jpg

The Gemini Bridges are two side by side arches that hang over Bull Canyon. They are seperated by 4 feet but with a 200 foot+ drop below them they can be a bit intimidating to walk over to people with a fear of heights. In the past, you could drive down and actually over the bridges but since I was here last year they had blocked off the last part of the trail and made it walking only.

Speaking of fear of heights, Alex, creeping up to take a peek in between the arches.

Great photos and I really liked you campsite on night 2. Looks like it started cooling down on the last day though!

Great trip report!

I was in Moab at the same time. We met a guy driving a red Wrangler at the Castle Valley Overlook were you posed your Rover. I just wondered if you noted any crumpled red metal directly below you. This guy was extremely drunk and ramming his Jeep back and forth between the rocks right on the edge. He was in very serious danger both to himself and others so we called the sheriff. They did not find him so there is the possibility he did go over.

All I see are Photobucket logos and something about exceeding bandwidth. Is it me? or something else?
