4" drop axle question

Does one of these axles HAVE TO be used in the drop position ? Or can it also be used in the "UP" position for more ground clearance ? I know nothing about them.

Thanks for the replies. :)

I would think that as long as there is room for spring perches to be affixed and there is no camber built in, you should be OK. I looked at those myself when ordering my axle. In the end, I decided on a straight, no camber model to keep cost down.

A quick Google search of "can you flip a drop axle" returns multiple posts on different forums. I say give it a shot an see what happens.

good luck!

check for camber.

In case you don't know what camber is, it is a built in arch that when loaded starts to flatten out. If the axle is flipped and there is an arch, the arch will get much worse instead of flattening out and your tires will wear quickly on the inside. Just use a long straight piece of metal or a long level to check it if it flat across the length of the axle tube.
