Test drove it
Wish I could be in Prescott right now....
So, I went and test-drove the D1. Yes, it has 35K miles, but looks like it has 135K. The cloth seats and carpet look good and are not worn, but the rest of the vehicle looks 14 years old. The engine is strong, smooth and I love the 5-speed. Definitely not a slouch without an automatic.
Here's the lowdown...:smiley_drive:
Good:
35K original miles
decent body and paint job, no dings, minimal scratches
Engine very smooth
A/C blows cold
CDL works
no 'check engine' or abs lights on
clean frame with no rust
Original dealer booklet and invoice
The not so good:
interior looks a bit abused (roof liner holes, stained cargo area)
top of front door panels 'cooked' like it has seen 14 years of sun
Dashboard severely warped from sun
No service history
Aspen windows show signs of rust around both
Missing fasteners from rear door panel
Rear cargo shade warped
Rear cargo boxes not secured
Passenger headlight and side light with condensation
Leaking oilpan
Leaking front diff
Side pillars faded
almost all side window seals are cracked
after CDL engaged, took awhile for the light switch off (may be normal)
Well, needless to say, I didn't buy it... I think I can find a better kept D1 out there even if it has a few more miles.
Also, I originally thought this was a '95 rather than a '96. '96 was the first year of the OBDII smog restrictions.
So, I am still keeping my eyes open for a LR. Would love to add one to the stable...
Thanks ZOOROPA for finding the ad. It was definitely worth looking at.
