$6,500 for a 2002 Montero with 140k? Is that a good deal? (w/pics)

Cheers mate. The only thing that I am hesitant about is the gas mileage. Apart from that I know Mitsu's are well built machines and in most countries are held next to Toyota's and Nissan's. Will see, it will probably come down to the better deal I get between this and 4runner. Cheers

If you're worried about gas mileage get a Honda civic. Not to be mean, but trucks are trucks.

I Seafoamed the engine, got a K&N (I am not in the dirt that much, I run paper off-road), put the proper weight oil in the engine and diffs, and filled all the tire to the highest rating on the PSI range and I get 18-19mpg in my Gen 3 if I am not too heavy with my left foot. Not bad for a a 6000lbs + truck with 140K on the clock. My Range Rover weighed the same and averaged 10-12mpg.

thanks for the great advice. There is a big difference in MPG between trucks. A friend of mine Diesel Land Cruiser averages 9.7L/100km. Just food for thought, trucks are NOT created equal

+1 The extra 5mpg that the Montero gets over the Land Cruiser was a big selling point for me. That translates into $685 over the course of our trip. Which is 10 days more of travel.
