A bit of an update on my 69’ SIIA build.
I finished building the chassis and have learned a few things and ways that would make building another one faster and even a bit better.
So decided to build another chassis, but going to build it as a 100” now. I wanted to build a 100” originally, but there were so many unknowns in the beginning, I didn’t want to add any potential compilations
Will build the 100” chassis first of August. I am selling my 300Tdi and building a Mercedes OM603 straight 6, 3L diesel.
Diesel Pump UK is rebuilding the pump with 7.5mm elements, a custom exhaust manifold & hybrid turbo. It will put out 250-300hp st 4250-4400 rpm & 280-300lb/ft at 1400-1600 rpm.
The rebuilt & strengthened Stubby R380 & LT230 can handle the power, the tuned 4 cylinder 300Tdi & 2.8Tdi rattle the R380 loose because of the power impulses.
Dave Marsh is working on my new bulkhead and it should be finished in few weeks.
The FJ60 axle housings are all finished, ready for the gearbox, TC & RM parabolic springs to get here in the crate so can set the pinion & castor and weld the spring perches.
Using rear springs on front, flipped around so from chassis horns/spring hangers only need to be extended 3.25” and shack hanged aft 6” to keep axel in stock location.
I have a FB page about the build,
