I guess your right, some people need correct terminology.

I spent a large part of my life thinking of Land Rovers as farm machinery, so I'm not so fussy.
FWIW I try to always use correct terminology. Not so much because I care what something is called, but because I care what other people call it. Makes communication so much easier when we're all calling that Jeewizmo the same name, be it a Convoluted Strumpet Valve Stem or a 3rd Order Harmonic Destabilizer Shaft.

In my days in Vintage Cars we referred to vehicles like this one as "bitsa's". They're a bit of this and a bit of that.....

It's certainly not a 69. Like someone said it's a franken rover with a series IIa grill, 80's stripes and series III dash. It will be no problem registering it in CA even with the diesel. Looks a little rusty but what series rover isn't?

I can't imagine trading a tricked out LC for that truck. I am not one to talk sh@t about things that are for sale, but you would be starting over (and then some) if you bought that truck.
Keep the LC and also buy a Land Rover to have as a second vehicle or have something to drive while working on the Rover. That truck looks like it would take awhile to sort out. Rust problems , new suspension, tires, overdrive and bushings will all be needing to be replaced.
From reading your website it appears that you like to travel. If you wish to keep doing that I would pass on this Rover or hope to get it cheap and keep the Land Cruiser.
Sorry for being a downer.

PS here is a listing from the Exchange of Land Rovers that are for sale.

You read my mind. Im passing on the deal, even trading the rig and me taking all my equipment, electronics, tent and fridge with me.. i still will pass.

One last question Steve, I thought these all were aluminum body... whats with the rust?
There was a video floating around - I think it was here on ExPo - where it did a great job explaining why they tend to rust so badly. Some of it had to do with the availability of steel after WWII and some of it had to do with saving a minuscule amount of weight off of an already heavy vehicle.

I agree that you should not sell your LC for this thing - or any old landie. An old landie, whether it be a IIa, II, or a I, will require a buttload of work to get it up to pare with your LC. Would I do it? Yeah, in a heartbeat. But I seem to be a glutton for punishment...:friday:

OK, I can't stand it any more. I'm the guy that said it doesn't matter if it's a safari top or a tropical top, but the title of this thread is driving me nuts.

LandRover never made a 69' vehicle. They did, however make a variety of vehicles in '69.

Can some mod please change the title of this thread, so that I can finally sleep well again. :)
