Gotcha on the springs... Allied or CC Spring? Just curious.

Yeah, towing a trailer that size, regularly..... 4.11s might not be so bad... gonna be rough staying in 4th on the highway though, unless you are going to beef up the 5th gear, and use that... which, would be perfect...

I am really liking the build.... when they do the springs, keep the info, and the spring rate... once this body rots again, I am going to find a diesel burb(older), and I am swapping all the goodies into that... and will probably need some accurate starting numbers...

Good work man...

I am going through CC spring, they are right up the street from me.

I am definately going to do the 5th gear beef up, going to use the torq king shaft.

Sweet. I keep trying to place your shop... I know I have seen it... but, for the life of me, cant remember where.... not that its important....

Good deal.... I think if you beef the trans up, you should be okay with those 4.11s. BUT, I will be honest, I dont know. I dont tow heavy with 5th gear...

I do, I have a NV4500 in my wrecker, it certanly gets the job done, I tow heavy with it on the interstate all the time, and have had no issues with the tranny.

Today's progress:

THE CAB IS BACK ON THE FRAME!!!

This makes me very happy, they have been apart for a long long time now.

I made a rig on my cherry picker this morning, worked amazingly well for pulling the cab.

It can pivot 360* and it picks the cab up with ease.

I am waiting on my cab mount kit that I ordered from ORD to show up so I can get the cab bolted down, and I need the rear spring pivot bushings that I ordered from ORD as well, when I get those I will be able to get the frame welded up and boxed, then I can start working on getting the Cummins mounted.

Man, I really cant wait to see this thing in one piece. That is my favorite body style of truck.......

Chase

I am right there with you.

This truck for me has been 15 years in the making.

I bought my first truck when I was 15, it was a brown and tan 71 3/4 ton 4x4, had the ranger overdrive in it, it was a cool truck, really wish I still had it.

Going to paint this one the same brown.

I just drove my first Cummins today... It was pretty sweet. Should be a lot of fun in that thing... And it's a Chevy, which makes it even better.

Exactly! this is why I love dodge, they took the most beautiful mechanically sound diesel engine ever produced and surrounded it in a cheesy junky truck that would fall apart very quickly ensuring a steady supply for those of us who like to do swaps!:victory:

Man that looks sweet as heck, it's progressing really fast.

It is one of those things that only some one who has experinced it can understand.

Having grown up with a German Shepherd mix/mutt, I truly understand where you're coming from.

One of my best friends wrote this poem when his dog passed away 2 years ago. It actually makes me tear up every time I read it... I figured you might appreciate it.

"The Last Walk"

I've lost the last of my inter-species siblings
without a way to cut my years in half
I can't regain that feeling
Farewell. You can't come home tonight.
This thought is overwhelming.
Now rest, my companion.
I've never known a man to offer such allegiance.
No motive but for love - pure constancy perfected
It comforts me, indeed, to know that each had vast repayment
Farewell. You can't come home tonight.
This thought is overwhelming.
Our world, so beautiful and utterly indifferent.
Let's go for a walk together.

Anyway, I agree with the sentiment that you should name this renewed project after your buddy. If there was a doggy heaven, he'd be wagging his tail in approval! Looking forward to keeping up on this build. Rock on!

When it happened the only thing I could think to do was to load him up on the trailer and take him for one last truck ride. That is what I did.
