8’ Callen Cabover Camper

Testing the waters on trading out my well-loved Callen Camper. I am the third owner, with the shell originally fitted on an OBS Ford and later a 1999 Ram 2500. It currently sits on a 2003 GMC Duramax.

The shell is watertight and great condition for its age. The second owner did a complete overhaul, replacing window seals, insulating with rigid foam, and relining the interior with new 1/4 panels. Enjoy your farmhouse chic on the road! Exterior repairs were colormatched, and while it’s dirty in my pictures, it looks pretty damn good for being 30+ years old. Callen quality and solid steel tube means it’ll last forever. There is some wear to aluminum angle on the rear doors but nothing that impacts use. Also has roller racks on the roof, making loading surfboards or small boats easier. Comes with two portable Scamp jacks for install and removal.

I have owned the shell for almost three years, camping with my kids and enjoying extended beach days with the rear doors open. I have added the following options:
- overhead surf slings (full-time storage of a beater board was one of reasons I searched so long for this model)

-interior and exterior LED lights: both are wired to a bus bar that can easily be expanded to power a fridge and other accessories. I still use my truck for construction so I wanted to keep the build out minimal.

- flip down stainless steel steps to access the roof.

- backup camera wired up high with universal connection, allowing you to connect to most aftermarket head units.

-wall mounted fishing rod holders

-small L track runs and other anchors to hang bags and accessories.

I have used an XL Disco Bed set up which my kids love. It also allows floor space for dogs and grown ups who apparently aren’t allowed in the bunk beds. Sitting on the bed rails, the shell is 74” wide on the inside, allowing for a horizontal sleeping platform.

I’m at work for a few days but can take additional pictures if needed and pull measurements. Thanks for taking the time to look.

Good luck with the sale. Off topic, how stable are those cot bunk beds? I've seen them once or twice and they look kinda cool. Seems perfect for kids.

They’ve been pretty sweet for the current set up. The kids love them, and they fit adults no problem too. The space savings is nice, as I can throw a mattress next to them or load up the truck. I clamp them to the truck bed for stability.

My only complaint, which is minor, is the weight. They are steel tube and pretty beefy. They pack down nice in their cases though, and having extra cots for my nephews and other guests is nice.
